Hi all, new member here.

I served for six years in the Australian Army reserves where I specialised in reconnaissance. I speak fluent Indonesian and am learning Russian (I should be fluent in a years time). I also have a degree in psychology, a diploma of modern languages and am studying a Master of Asian Studies. I hold a number of security qualifications in the security industry here in Australia.

I am planning to do the Ronin SA course and was wondering what my chances are of getting an international role? Thank you.

First impressions on how you describe yourself- leave the gun slinging courses alone and go get a degree in security risk management, far more work, better paid, more chance of permanent employment.

Not saying that, in a saturated market where prices have been driven down I think you have more opportunity in management. There are lots of very experienced/qualified unemployed guys out there at the moment.

I think you education has a very solid and versatile rooting. Risk management you clearly learned and have an understanding of, as I am sure you touched base on the subject of LPC. I had completed a double for my BA and MA, even began my LPC, but after 500 hours said screw this and went for a PhD in History.

Ronin SA offers some training, but I would suggest Trojan Securities International giving your education, nationality and linguistic abilities. Contact them via email explaining a little more about your self, your current objectives and a direction that you would like to see your self headed in, check their site out for training of course and gear your approach so that you are not open to a copy and paste reply.

Now if you can afford it I would suggest taking some online courses Poli Sci specific in counter terrorism. I took some Post Doc courses my self years ago through University if Nevada and ended with a senior level CT post doc diploma; however my entire civilian career was focused around the Defense industry. Point is you already have your solid roots of education, and other than training its time to start looking at grad level professional training, even distance learning is fine as you have your roots, even Harvard offers a fairly decent set of certs that would suit your needs for under 9K.

I would say reach out if you have any questions, but I am not often on here, I am retired military and now retired on the civilian side, so chances are I am out fishing or hunting.

But best of luck to you and welcome to the forum.
