Being new to the industry having gained all the qualifications needed and more what does it take to get a foot in the door?

i am not nieve in anyway and know that this is a hard business to get into, but when you get cv's returned to you saying thanks for your interest but you have no experiance it gets quite down hearting, i send a personal covver letter to each company after researching them and all i want is a chance to prove myself.

I do not expect to be given a job because i have the qualifications but on the websites they only ask for the usual quals.

Where is one going wrong?

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance.

You're not really going wrong. It's just that companies receive hundreds of CV's a week, many from people with probably much more experience than you in the security sector. Most jobs are gained through networking, i.e. getting a job through knowing someone within a particular company who will recommend you. It is hard getting a foot in the door and will only get harder as thousands of military are laid off. Just keep persevering and something will eventually crop up; even faster if you network.

Try this: listen to the advice of people who are already working within the industry.
Listen to the advice of people who recruit for security position.
Use the search bar there has been some good posts recently with regard to cv sifts an what recruiters look for.

Above all don't be a smart arse!!! Because that will guarantee to get people's backs up and you will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Remember abit of humility when you screw up goes along way an says alot about an individuals character! Than trying to be a smart arse!
