What qualifications

Gidday Renos,

Where I am in Australia, to go on the armoured vans you need the Security Guards License, Security Guards Weapons License (Class H - pistol), and truck license minimum category MR (Medium Rigid). They travel armed here, with glock pistols.

There will be differences in your area, possibly on the weapons license/armed.

Probably would pay to get in touch with the money carriers and ask them what their minimum requirements are in terms of licensing, and what they are looking for in terms of experience.

As for who they are over there, I couldn't tell you, but maybe if you are seriously interested someone on the forum can point you in the right direction.

I'm pretty sure over here ex-military, ex-police is an advantage, but not essential.

They run plain clothes CIT here as well, with truck license not needed, but weapons license essential.

Have looked at it here myself, I am planning on giving it a run next year. Money is average, however it's another area of experience for the resume.

Awwww, the Good old british approach to firearms... some *censored**censored**censored**censored*er shot some other pricks with his legally owned firearm some time ago - so fuck it, let's ban them all. Who gives a shit criminals still have their ILLEGALLY owned firepower and a decent citizen has nothing to respond with when fired upon, who even gives a shit when unarmed police officer get's in the same situation. Let's just keep the stiff upper lip and don't run when at a gunpoint, because gentleman will walk but never run. Gotta love it !

there are alot of good companies on this web site. There are some GREAT companies on this web site. You need to decide what type training you are looking for. Once you have done that there is a whole section on training companies and training.

Best wishes

Renos,
I suppose it depends which career area you are looking at, as some companies will specialise in some areas more than others, from my short time on here and my longer knowledge of the companies themselves, there are many to choose from and a variety of pricings to match. some charge for accommodation, some don't etc. Good luck.

Well seeing as this thread is in the CVIT section I would think Im asking about training in CVIT.

No Offense Intended Just Trying to Help

... he was only trying to be helpful, and took the time to sit down and type something he thought would be of assistance for you.

Renos

no offense intended mate. I presumed that you were new to the forum and was simply trying to direct you to the appropriate area. There are alot of fantastic companies on this web site. Then you read about some other ones that are really suspect. This was clearly my point.

This is a forum where if you post a query someone will reply back to you with an answer. If you wear your feelings on your sleeve people will not respond to your question.

Next time I keep my assistance to myself.

Best wishes

No offence was intended by me either but I ask questions on here and everyone keeps answering as if it was just one open forum and saying what area of the security industry am I asking about when all my threads have been in CVIT.

Being new to security industy and I have looked at a number of different areas within it. Ive asked alot of questions and I feel the security industry is the same all over no one wants to give straight answers.

Why is this??????????

Renos I gave you as straight an answer as I could give you mate. This forum has alot of information. Even though you are referring to the CVIT all the posts show up when a new comment is made.

Most if not all of us have experience in different things so when someone asks you a question they generally are trying to help you.

No one can give you any straight answers as there are none. There is a saying I read that said "there is no security in security". it's that simple. Getting a job in CVIT can be as simple as meeting someone who likes you and gives you a chance. Once you get on losing the job can be as simple as not fitting in, looking at someone the wrong way, or someone else has a friend higher up the chain that needs a job.

All of us are in the Security Industry no matter what part your in we are in the industry together. In my opinion there is no super chief here. We all help each other out. If you notice jobs being posted on the forum. Everyone who has that skill set applies for it. Now where else would you go to that people post a job that they are applying for and then have to compete with 75-100 more people with the same skills set? It's unheard of anywhere else.

Keep your options open mate. The people on this site are the movers and shakers of the industry. Even though your focus is on CVIT you never know who you might meet or what opportunities you might obtain.

Stay positive mate and don't get frustrated. Just remember there is no I in TEAM.

Best Wishes

Reno's, plenty of networking and more networking, sending of CV's, applying for jobs and choosing a good training company. Just stay on top of things, the experience you have and the training you get are the things that will get you noticed you will only get good advice here in CPW.
