Which belt?

I found myself with pockets full in my jacket last weekend (My car keys, Phone, small wallet, Radio and Kevlar gloves) and I didnt like the fact I was carrying unsecured loose items...

Ideally: I need a belt that can primarly securely hold the radio - pocket free/handsfree - with additional pouches to also hold my gloves and a small notebook (just in case). Perhaps also for my personal valuables (phone/small wallet etc) although I would probably go for inside pockets in the jacket..

I want something that works well enough that I can trust that the radio will stay put when in the midst of an ejection/situation. Any recommendations for such a belt?

I saw this but was hesitant about buying.. the price is fairly cheap, but will the quality be compromised?

I don't think I will need ALL those pouches... so would need to be able to remove unwanted ones/add some specialist ones for the future.
Penny for your thoughts?

Thanks,
HJ

Just get a jacket with zips on the pockets, save yourself from looking like a grade A bell end.

lol!

My jacket has zips.. the pockets are not massive (approx large hand sized) but they were full as I've already said..
Main problem was the radio is larger than the pocket is deep. If I'd had to get stuck in - the antenna would have been sticking out of the pocket..

Hi honestjohn

I would suggest you look at what the other DS staff are wearing/carrying.

If you really feel that you need a belt then click on the SHOP tab on this forum, which will take you through to another page where you can look at belt equipment etc.

Just clip the radio onto your belt. If you turn up with a utility belt looking like batman the only people who won't think your a muppet will be the other muppets :)

I wear a 5.11 TDU belt but do not have anything other than a radio clipped to it. There was a DS where I worked who we called Inspector Gadget................

Blackhawks cqb riggers belt (as tacticool as that sounds, it's just a really quality, strong belt). Not great for formal stuff, but it's good on combats and jeans. For casual just go and buy a decent leather belt. As said above, I just carry my radio on it, cuffs if they are to be carried, beyond that and it's batman really.

I really have to agree. You will look like a proper tool if you get a tactical belt. What do you need for normal security, my list is a pair of combats, that's it. Holds my passport (never ever leave it off your person) my tobacco tin, my wallet and phone. Does the job.

Radio was always clipped to my back side on my normal belt. I've never had any trouble with it.

I agree with Colonel, combats is what I use. Easy access and comfortable. As far as a good belt I wear a 5.11 Apex Gunners belt. Sounds extreme I know but have a look for yourself. It is heavy duty but looks good.

I had considered combats, but Yeah combats are a no-no apparently.. semi-smart trousers are the order of the day.. its been a busy few weeks.. got a load of shifts done now.
Got my belt issues sorted (I found a good sturdy smart normal belt in burtons of all places..) it can happily carry two radios without any issues.
So - no worries about me turning all gucci after five minutes in the job ;)

I Hope you've all had a good and safe Xmas break...
Now for the couple of nights of inevitable madness on the run up to NYE.

Good to hear mate, you don't want to turn up to work looking like Batman. Congrats and welcome to the forum. Less of the Gucci lol, my dress trousers are Armani... Eighty quid for the whole suit on Fleabay ;)

Even wearing dress trousers there's room for wallet, phone and a wee tip is to buy an led torch, just a tiny one that takes 2 AAA batteries. Do not listen to the fellas who say you need one of the trunchion things.

Also, and this is my personal opinion, I have a viper leather license holder that I wear on my belt beside the buckle. It's always there and It'll never be lost, used to wear it on the arm but lost it many a time when taking the coat off to hook off for a smoke.
