Anti-IS-combatant arrested
ARNHEM -
The 46-year-old former Dutchbat soldier Jitse A. Leeuwarden was arrested in Arnhem because he would have slain IS fighters in Syria.
A. did last year in the media and on Facebook account of his struggle against the terror movement.
He fought on the side of the Kurdish militia YPG. This militia is among human rights organizations not uncontroversial. According to Amnesty International, the YPG last year in northern Syria have been involved in expelling citizens from their homes, which were then destroyed.
Dutch fighters against IS falling just under the Dutch criminal law and could be prosecuted if they commit crimes, says the OM in a press release. Citizens have the Dutch law provides no right to go over itself to use violence and certainly not deadly force, except in exceptional situations, such as self-defense. "The killing of IS-combatants may therefore lead to a criminal prosecution for murder."
"There is an important difference between Dutch nationals who travel to Syria on their own to fight against IS and Dutch soldiers who Iraqi and Kurdish forces, including the Peshmerga, training," explains the OM out. "This commitment and training is done at the request of the Iraqi government."
The prosecution later decides whether A. indeed prosecuted for murder. The prosecution would first wait for the police investigation.
The former soldier has been provisionally released, on condition that the suspect surrenders his passport, not leave the country and report every week to the police. This is to prevent him from re traveling to Syria to participate in the armed conflict.

No need to say how rediculous this is , Hypocrites
Told in October 2014 : OM still blandly told AFP (newspaper) that they would not sue Dutch who fought against ISIS. Quote of the OM double talker at the time: "It used to be employed by foreign forces was illegal, now it is no longer prohibited You can not only take part in a battle against the Netherlands..
To proclaim that you will not prosecute anti-ISIS fighters and then have arrest Jitse Akse we have a nice word: hypocrisy. Regardless of what the Dutch law says, if you say the one as OM, but it does another, you're a hypocrite. Furthermore, whether the jihadis are blasted by our F16s or individually bypassed by Sniper from Stiens, which seems to make little difference.
Hopefully my translation suceeded somehow
.
Anyhow Jitse .. you have my support , in a war where civilians are murdered .. any civilian in my eyes battling unjustice is in my eyes a hero , no matter what country they come from
