Hello everyone, I am pretty new in this SIA security world. I have already done the door supervisor training and granted the certificate. Now I am looking to apply for SIA License. I am male, 19 years old. I have been living in this country for 2 years. I have Indefinite Leave/Remain Visa.

Do I need send my Police Report from my home country to the SIA sothat they know I don't have any convictions?

Is there any thing first timers like me should be aware of before sending in the apllication form?

comments and suggestions of this kind are highly appreciated.

Hi Buddy,

Get your criminal conviction report from your country and send it with your application. My Polish friend didn't do this and this held up his application process.

Make sure you check over your application as it will get sent back to you if anything is missing or incorrect.

Also make sure the identification you send is sufficient and if you are using bank statements or utility bills they are within the last 3 months. As a rule of thumb send more than is needed and always by recorded delivery.

Don't leave any gaps in your address history and get somebody to look over your application before you send it off.

If there is anything else give me a shout - I have looked over a few of these.

Cheers

Thank you so much for the above reply. I have a couple of more questions to ask.

The envelope provided with the SIA application is too small as I have to send A4 sized documents without folding them (because they are laminated).
Can I send the application and the documents in A4 sized envelope?

I did the SIA course couple of months ago and while filling the examination form I pasted passport sized photograph. Sadly, I ran out of those photographs. I am thinking of sending the new recent photographs.
Does the photograph on SIA form be identical to the photograph I sent to the examination centre?

cheers,

Ryan.

As long as the envelope is clearly marked there is no problem with an A4 size - make sure you stick enough postage on it/recorded delivery.

As long as the photos look similar - i.e. no drastic change of haircuts/facial hair etc you should be ok.

Make sure your coutersignatory signs the back of it as per instructions in application.
