Hi all.
Sorry if this has been asked already.

I was looking at various international vacancies and most of them state that you must be currently acls certified.
I'm a paramedic with 10+ years experience. Currently working for the nhs. As you know, we currently use cardiac drugs, intubation, io/Iv infusion etc etc. Does this mean that I can be considered acls certified ( or equivalent of) or do I have to do another course to get that "ticket" to become eligible to apply for these positions.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks.

Unless you've specifically done the ACLS (which is a US course), then no you're not. Same as ALS (which surpasses ACLS). Even though UK paras routinely undertake ALS on patients, the majority haven't done the RCUK ALS course, and are therefore not ALS for the purposes of formal quals.

Thanks for that starlight. I thought the als course was designed more for in hospital use. ie) lots of hands available.
