Essex used to have a top of the range S Max. Not sure if they still as not seen one around recently.

Fast and roomy.

Met Pol use 5 series BMW's. Mostly saloons from what I have seen.

Money no object how about a petrol Disco 4! Or an X5.

A mate in manchester has an old Scorpion Armoured Car, blueprinted Jag XJ engine, recarro leather interior...

6 x Chieftains, and a few Abbotts. :)

A few 4x4 saloons out there, real pokey and plenty of room. Don't choose rwd cars, not cool to be stuck in the snow on a shout. Audi would be my weapon of choice, I get 12% discount off my local dealer, good residuals and excellent reliability, worth a look!

I've seen the S Max Petrol in action - quick and handles very nicely indeed. Plenty of room makes it a good armoury on wheels. Of course, limitations would be lack of ground clearance or 4x4 capability but, in an urban environment, based on what the UK police require it to do, it works lovely.

We used to use the Ford Galaxy, with rally suspension and brakes. Not much ground clearance, but good and stable for 130+ on motorways. The armoury sat central, with some seats taken out. Lots of room for that 3am snooze as well:~/

It was cost effective because a handful of them were able to cover the whole county, keeping to motorways and arterial roads, in order to put a whole team on plot quick time.

Someone else has the purse strings now, so they use Discoverys. Sound like a tractor and hardly needs the blues and twos 'cos it's so slow. But they don't have to put ARV officers through the advanced car course, so saved dosh. Like paramedics and fire fighters, they set the response time so long that they don't have to rush to meet their targets (listen to me with the manager speek). But the poor Joe who really needs the help RIGHT NOW - well, who cares about him - who on earth is running this world.
