Cheap training equipment

Wasn't sure where to put this post so this place seemed a good thread to start. I train in muay thai and BJJ. Not because I think it will benefit me in a career sense but because I enjoy the sports.

I was looking to buy some kick shields so that my friends and I can train on our downtime at work and so that I can train my strikes without having to wait until class. Kickshields are expensive and don't last long, one of my training partners can punch through a Blitz kickshield and at the prices they sell for it gets expensive.

We were given a tip from one of our instructors (Russell) who uses a material called Ethafoam which is what Peter Consterdine and Russell Stutely use. It seems to be the perfect solution and 7 kickshields cost us £48 to have made.

Do a search for Ethafoam on Google and you will find plenty of companies selling it. Alternatively you can get it for free from electrical wholesalers as it is a waste product that they use in packaging. It isn't that white polystyrene ball stuff which disintegrates after a couple of strikes, they will know what it is when you ask for it.
