Hi mate, ex Corps myself 24 years 17 in CP.

The badge does exist but like most things RMP they went at it half arsed. The original dress regs said that it could only be worn by trained operators who were serving in a CP unit,

ie 177, 6 Sp Pl or the wing. So they were like rocking horse shit and normal Q stores simply did not have them. This was relaxed a little bit in the late 90's but they are still really hard to find. Your best bet is too approach a Q where lots of old and bold are getting out, (the depot?) and see if you can beg. borrow steal.

All the best

AJ

If your still looking, any clothing store can get the one for you no2/FAD as for the No 1 dress that'll be out of service soon anyway! but messdress.com do the smaller one (for mess dress) which will probably suffice for your No1's as ultimately no matter which one you wear there will be the usual debates on if they're authorised and which is the correct one!!!!

Have you tried the RQMS Dept at CPU? There was a time when they were issued to individuals after passing the CPC. If they don't have them then they should have an idea for the NSN. Mess Dress.com have the smaller ones for mess dress, however I got mine from Boots Wellington. They also come up on ebay too.

NSN for No1 dress is .... 99 130 9079. Well that's the number on the back of mine!

Happy Hunting

Dave

They've been issued/worn for at least 3 decades that I know of. I'm sure someone even older can tell us if it goes even further back.

I passed my course in 91 and did nearly 3 years in 177 leaving in April 95 and dont ever remember seeing/hearing about it. Did a quick search online and cant find a photo. Tried Kelly badge and the website seems to be closed.

It's a trade badge and I realised after I typed my reply to you this is now the second decade of the 21st Century so that's four decades since I first saw one ( When I was in awe of the guy wearing it as I was still a recruit. Little did I know that a few years down the line we would have the same posting and I would realise he was/is a dick :) ). If you didn't see/hear about well I guess that's life but it exists and has done for quite some time. I just checked Kelly's and can only think you may have the wrong site as it's working fine and so is the ordering system.

This is what it looks like. By the stitching this one looks like the old ginger suit type:
