Hi all

Has anyone ever had much experience working security on any cruise ships?

What was it like, pay and conditions job satisfacion?

Would working on a cruise ship conducting security help you later on down the road if you were trying to get work in more of an anti piracy type role.

Any info or feed back would be good

Cheers

Regarding your question, I may be alittle outdated as I havent worked on cruise-ships for around 8/9 years now;Perks:Good social scenetravel to new destinations/countries on a daily basisDeck Officer status (afew perks go with this)Regarding the pay, I was on around 3500 pounds a month; bearing in mind and considering you dont have to pay for food or accom, etc.I believe the rotations are still quite lengthy...back then it was 4 months on, 1 month off. Will it get you into the Marsec field? I definately dont think it will hurt. There plenty of companies who provide all the training for C/sec' on cruise-ships. Just bear in mind there are no companies who provide a guarantee for employment. It also helps if you have sea-going expertise, ISPS-SSO, coxswain, sea survival, fire-fighting & investigational quals, etc. I'm sure there is plenty of info and experience guys here on this forum that may be able to add more commment or assist.
