I know it's sunday but surely there must be more opinions re these guys? The more I've been looking into it the more I don't like. I still want to know about the weapons advertised on their site, G3 Assault Rifle? H&K 416, Can you get that in .22cal? (they've spelt that wrong too! It's Heckler & Koch, not heckler & Kock!). Might try and contact them to find out. As for the eurotactical course yanfran, I have only heard good stuff about them on this forum from searching, flaming loads cheaper in the long run too.

highsea66, thanks for the info. So, it seems that there are 2 main TP's in this area, 'the one in France' must be Eurotactical as I can't find mention of any others. Just looked at their site, 4 day residential £1000 special offer, seem to have a boat-load of firearms too. Works out at £250 a day, that's almost half the price per daily rate of this shooting solutions and real firearms! I suppose it's down to what you want to spend at the end of the day.

Are the firearms used by shooting solutions being currently used in Marsec?

Yes mate they are and 450 for one day is abit steep but depends on your time scale it fitted inbetween jobs for me rather than trying to fit almost a week in its a pass or fail course and theres a few out there who have failed!!!!! the course is well run and safe and recognized by my employer who has looked into these providers very closely and found others wanting.

Just to clarify…….. In the many years that Euro Tactical have been providing professional firearms training to the industry we have only failed one!! We couldn’t get him to our standard as he was removed from the course!! With justifiable reason :)

Our standards are very high. We consider ourselves as having two roles, firstly to ensure that every student achieves that level and above and secondly to ensure that our standard continues to be recognised as one of the most comprehensive, in depth course available. This is where our experience lies.

We provide high end firearms training - we do not consider ourselves as being in the role of certifying competency. Each to their own.

Our instructors would take it as a personal professional failure if one of their students did not meet the requirement and pass the course.

The majority attending current courses are either former or current military, police or working in MARSEC/CP. They come here with varying levels of experience but they ALL - without exception – leave with a skill set, knowledge of firearms and level of efficiency far superior to not only their own expectation but also the levels which are being asked for by the industry in general.

Sorry, we do not talk 'failure' here.

Hi Mark 22150,

I dfon't think highseas66 meant your outfit Eurotactical I think he was referring to Shooting Training Solutions. I have been getting PM's from guys that have been 'failed' by them, it would seem for nit-picky reasons. WHY? Apparently, one was failed for an alleged ND,( but and this is pure hearsay you must understand) apparently he discharged a round (if you can call .22cal a round) downrange following an unload. Was that unsafe? Not to me, if he squeezed off in the direction of the target following an unload then is that unsafe?

Anyway, I will be contacting you V soon.

Chow,

chamboz77, just got me before bed, back on range tomorrow! Go to euro-tactical.co.uk, contact via website we will get back to you. Website is being re-vamped. Thanks.

G'night.

livger8, I can't send pm yet as I don't have 5 posts.

demon, thanks. You say it is all .22 cal, having had another closer look at their website, it does not mention the firearms being .22 cal on the 'firearms page', I didn't know that you could get a G3 rifle in .22 cal, is it a conversion or something? The place does look good from the photos, but I'm more interested if the course is up to it as I'm concerned about the cost for one day.

j4128, sorry don't agree with you. Have a look at this, it's on most of the Marsec TP's websites MSC.1/Circ.1405/Rev.1

"As part of the guidance (2.4.4) it states that PCASP are “Trained to operate the specific firearms and other security equipment that will be used on the vessels on which they will be deployed.â€

This from STS's website. Also, if you've been out for some time you will need some training to get up to speed. I am not sure that a one day course is enough.

you shoot .22. the g3 is a deac and you just strip it. just looked and they have change the website. it now dosnt mention it all being .22.
no civi range in this country has a section 5 liecence so can not shoot 5.56 or 7.62. my advise would be go to euro if you want to shoot " real rifles "

Hi Mark 22150,.....snipped....

Unfortunately the answer is yes. He did not follow safety procedure. ALWAYS look into the chamber!

yeah tbh, whilst i agree that firing 22 is bullshit, i would expect anyone who has an ND to be failed. its pretty basic weapon handling. i honestly couldnt begin to count how many rounds ive got off in my life and never had an ND. its pretty unacceptable behaviour tbh

Shawn,
I work for a marsec company in the UK and we recommend the guys at shooting training solutions to anyone that asks. We don't gain anything from our lads going to the company but from the research we have done we believe that it the best thing around, they offer a good level of training at a more than fair price. We insist that all our operators have the qualification not only for your safety but for our peace of mind and to meet our clients requirements. Hope this helps mate.

Ok, so what research have you done that says this is the best around? I cannot comment on the level of training, I'm sure it's spot on but the price? This is what is really getting to me. How many one day courses charge £455? How much does150 rounds of .22cal ammo cost? One mistake with no chance of redeption (how could one redeem themselves in a one day course I wonder?) and your failed, with the chance of a retest at £200, then have to re-take the one day course?(another £455) Unbelievable! I too have done my research! Unless you know better? Oh, don't forget the deactivated G3 etc. What do they do there, shout bang? That's me done with this, I know what I will be doing.

moon9 Out!

Dan Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have been out the mil now for 6 yrs and i feel the the euro course would be far more beneficial too me as i am quite rusty i suspect. I dont think there is a substitute for the real thing,as far as a refresher for someone whose not touched any weapons in 6 yrs i wouldn't feel comfortable only going on a days training to prepare me for life in marsec.

Shawn

Could someone explain to me what is a 'maritime shooting course'. What is the difference ;)

Hi Mark,

I have looked at your website and it does look really good apart from the quote in the FAQ's: "You will receive an internationally recognised certificate of competence at whatever level you achieve" ???????

Do you still get this after the course or do you no longer provide it?

Thanks

ExRN.
