Gentlemen/Ladies,

Somebody snap this up as it will soon go and believe me when I say it is value for money. JR is a more than able CP provider and if you want validation of this then visit www.NASP.org where he is the moderator and ask about there. Good luck to whoever gets it and make sure you do a good write up.

Excellent idea, I am sure the feedback will be useful too and Bristol is an interesting city too.

I was quite lucky when I did my course in Bristol as we had this just up the road from our accommodation, great place for an evening meal. It is not often you can eat in a castle every night!

Quite an eclectic mix of Ikea meets medieval world!:)

Review of Delta Goose CP Course 3rd March - 18th March 2008
As promised a review of the above course. I got back up the road early this morning so please excuse any typo's. There was a total of 6 people on this course from a range of backgrounds - 4 of the 6 had military experience. The course was delivered at the artillery grounds TA centre in Bristol.

Joining Instructions: OK/Good
I was on holiday on the 2 weeks leading up to this course so I didn't get much chance to touch base with JR - I did receive joining instructions by email. A couple of lads didn't get them but were able to sort out directions before start.

Training Accomodation: Excellent
Well laid out training rooms with appropriate tea, coffee and shower/toilet facilities. Good library of close protection titles, maps and information on surrounding area. Operations room looked the part - plenty of space to deliver briefings and route recce's.

Bed and Breakfast: OK
5 of the 6 lads were staying at the Old Crow Pub/B and B/Drug dealing establishment. To be fair to the Crow the rooms/sheets were clean, good home cooked meal at night and we were made to feel welcome. However, too many young locals snorting columbian marching powder in the toilets to make it the best place to study or relax. Bottom line is it was cheap, the food was good but it could have done with a decent door team!

Instructors:Excellent
The instructors for this course were JR, BB and GC.
JR facilitated the sessions and made sure paperwork and Admin were up to scratch. He has previous experience of operating in the celebrity market. Good trainer although possibly a bit too keen on the pink shirt/sports jacket combo!

BB delivered the majority of the course and has a huge knowledge about CP and working on the circuit. Always willing to give a insight into what clients will actually do or act like. Made sure the group were well prepared for their exams. Also made sure everyone had a thorough understanding of what the job actually entails - longs hours of inactivity interspersed with periods or rushing about.

GC came in and instructed on foot drills, operations and surveillance. A man who commands respect and has walked the walk and remained humble. Wealth of experience at the higher risk end of CP - anyone looking to go into this area should speak to this man first.

Overall the instructors worked well together and brought different views and opinions to the course. JR, BB and GC are all passionate about CP and this is obvious. Maintained a good tempo throughout the course and kept the pressure on.

Exercises and Live - Ops: Excellent
These were well thought out and felt like real jobs. Pressure was upped throughout the course leading to an attempted kidnapping carried out by two chaps with pick axe handles.

Added Value Elements: Excellent
We had driving and physical intervention add ons through the course that were delivered by good blokes with a wealth of knowledge. These sessions were good and broke up the course well.

Overall: Excellent
A good entry level course that will give you a good base of skills you need to be a close protection officer. Course instructors have a range of different experiences and do not always agree, but this adds to the interaction between staff and students. The only downsides were the accomodation + joining instructions for some students - I am sure this will be improved in future. Thoroughly enjoyed the course and my 16 days in Bristol, SIA application is in and I will hopefully have my licence before Christmas. Now the hard part of getting work starts.......

If anybody has any questions or wants more specific information please give me a shout.

Thanks to closeprotectionworld for the opportunity.

Gringoe,

thanks for the general thumbs up, it was a good course, made by the candidates themselves and the commitment they showed.

Re Joining Instructions:- point taken on board and will be resolved.

Re Accomodation: this is a non residential course - the Old Crow is suggested, as it is the nearest and cheapest to the training area - certainly a bit hectic and not the Hilton, nor is it mandatory.

Great picture of you and Egg in the Bristol Evening Post tonight! Drop me a mail and I will email the article up to you.

Speak soon re Summer Events.

JR

All students were informed of the online exam result the same day and their results sent out in the post. We have just recived the certificates which will be in the post later today. All passed by the way!
