Mark.
Firstly one thing I always suggest, refrain from using the term CP or close protection!
The industry for a number of years has been more advisory , Consultancy and training .
What course anyone has undertaken holds little relevance, compliance and valid certifications inline with the role, remit and responsibility are what is required.
The main roles now require a person whom is flexible, adaptable and capable of creating a solution to any given situation.
The potential courses I would suggest are training and vocational course, medical FREC 4 is more appropriate than previous courses such as MIRA - FPOS-I, with an ILS or ALS bolt on course , though ILS is required annually to validate your FREC 4.
HRA high risk advisory is where you will find potential employment, media though I suggest not undertaking any of these courses that suggest are required, you will find that most companies will file 13 your CV , bin anything on your CV that keeps outlining your military history or tasks .
The interest is how you deal with a situation and your approach to clients whom at times can be potentially challenging.
Regt no interest at all , this only potentially serves with some companies as a check on what personality you hold, integrity and nothing more .
Stay clear of the main companies that some have suggested, if your looking at Oil & Gas , you would be looking at an Asset protection superintendent role not site security manager they are 3rd party providers. (Crescent Petrolium ) are direct clients which is what you should aim for is you hold the experience that matches the criteria.
Security management your are suggested to look at BAE Systems SA or Bechtel .
I’m not suggesting that they have roles advertised all the time , they pay well and hold a 28/28 rotation.
Criteria, always read through carefully, if your experience doesn’t match the role don’t apply as you will only burn your bridges.
The last two years I have been in Ukraine, Philippines, Isreal with the same company and the last month Syria where I am at the moment.
I advise to a number of companies of different programs so think outside the box Mark .
PM me if you require any additional assistance !
Lastly good networking and the ability to write and compile accurate and detailed reports and risk assessments is expected.
