Just find the cheapest one. Any potential employer couldn't really care less what MARSEC course you've done. They're more interested in that you tick all the right boxes. You do realise MARSEC is nails to get into at present without prior transit experience?

ye mate i noticed that throw my research more than any thing i am looking to get the courses under my belt plan on doing CPO/HE as well but looking to do MERSEC ones first and still work in civvie street till something comes around

I know a couple lads that done it. I believe they had to do some of it elsewhere (Sea survival stuff due to no pool) but they did get taken on with them.

I've just completed the G4S MSO course, in MY OPINION its a well run course with DS who know their subject, but i cant compare it to other courses i have'nt done, they now have use of a pool and all relevant modules of STCW95 were covered, they dont cover the fire prevention/fighting module as the department of transport say its not required but I cant confirm or deny this. I would recommend doing this course but from my own research they all cover the same stuff anyway so its a matter of personal choice and deciding who to spend money on.

DoT stated in Interim Guidance to UK Flagged Shipping on the Use of Armed Guards to Defend Against the Threat of Piracy in Exceptional Circumstances that they really only wanted to see PSSR & PST however try getting a job without all four modules it aint happening shippers.

Oh and your PST unless it was carried out with a 3m drop to simulate a ship evacuation according to the STCW latest edition is not in accordance with their instructions laid down. Recreational providers who turned their hand to commercial training are handing out exactly the same B.S.S.C carried out for the R.Y.A which is designed as a survival course for recreational sailors having to abandon from a yacht to a liferaft. The only difference is M.C.A doesn't recognise it because it hasn't got their tag on it.

A certain TP on the isle of wight use's the same life-raft's ffs when was the last time you saw an eight man life raft on a commercial ship

Check out this thread - the question, the state of the marsec sector and comments from other posters. It may assist on your decision making process on whether to attempt to embark (shite pun) on a marsec career (or not).

One guy at the department of transport said its not required its just that shipping coys/security coys want it, another said it is required but not by British shipping coys, and a third said it IS required by law by everyone and the MCA said the same as the second bloke

Bollox, it is just a made up name by TP's to make money by incorporating smaller courses into one longer course........
