My name is Umar, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and our company to the community here.
I'm with Onyx Facility Management, where we provide security services including event security, K-9 detection units, access control, and manned guarding, alongside broader facility management services. You can check out more about what we do here: onyxfacilitymanagement.co.uk.
I've been reading through the forum for a while now and have found a lot of value in the discussions here — from operational best practices to how different companies approach event and close protection planning. This community clearly has a wealth of hands-on experience, and I'm looking forward to learning from it as well as contributing where I can.
A bit about our focus: we work across corporate events, private functions, and large-scale gatherings, with particular emphasis on K-9 explosive and drug detection as part of the wider security plan. One thing we've come to believe strongly is that effective security has to be built around the specific event, venue, and risk profile — not a generic staffing model.
Looking forward to being part of the conversation here. Happy to answer any questions about our services, and equally keen to hear how others in this space approach things like access control, crowd management, or working with K-9 units on site.
