Joining the TA Military Police
Upper age limit is 43 (only very exceptional circumstances will see anyone older being accepted)
Officers i think from memory need to be 34.
you must have a full valid uk driving license prior to completing your training, you can join with a provisional however you will not be promoted to Lance corporal until you have a full license.
once you join you will be required to complete the CMS (R) common military syllabus reserve this is 7 weekends at an Army training regiment such as Strensal is york where you will be taught basic soldiering skills by TA instructors.
from here you go on to a two week residential course which in essence is a refresher of the 7 weekends you complete at the ATR.
after completing this in essence you are a fully trained soldier (not a military police NCO though)
from here you go on to the IMP(V) course at south park where you will learn your week one policing skills and PST training (baton n cuff) week two is a field exercise upon completion you will be awarded your RMP red beret and your lance corporal stripe.
in total you will need to devote
7 weekends
2 weeks CMSR
2weeks IMP
some units run the 7 weekends in a block of two weeks which is ideal and suited to students and the unemployed.
from the point you walk through the door of the recruiting office to the award of your red beret your looking at between 6 months to a year and a half.
the contact details for the units are as follow, i would advise you get in touch with the PSI (permanent staff instructor) as an initial point of contact and they will refer you to the unit recruiter.
