Hello fellow members,

Can anyone help me with the criteria for becoming an approved centre/provider for MCA SSO Courses. Where can i find the info and also a contact email specifically for the area of the MCA that deals with approvals.

Any help is greatly appreciated

If you pose your question to the MCA Exams people first (Exams.Section@mcga.gov.uk), then Abby or one of the nice ladies and Gents will answer you, but may redirect you to these:

MNTB - HOME

PDSD is obviously the more favoured qualification now. Depending on where your located and who your local assesor is you may be able to apply for SSO, along with PDSD and Profsec and only be assessed once whereas other MCA offices may insist on three separate assesments. MNTB will provide (for £30) the security course criteria and it's then up to you to contact your local MCA office and submit your application. PM me if you need help.

So PDSD is what qualification considering the new C&G MSO course is now in effect within maritime??

City & Guilds claim (and I belief they are right to some extent) that PDSD makes up 25% of the MSO course. The MCA however are yet to accept this and until they are happy that the MSO course is mapped against PDSD they won't allow TP's to issue a PDSD cert alongside MSO. Therefore it remains a separate qual only 'outranked' by SSO which most of us have done of course.
