Never really heard of any distance training like your asking apart from the normal degrees in security management / diplomas etc but there is VideoTel who do an excellent online SSO course + CSO and FPSO.
These courses allow you (i think) up to 9mths distance learning and then you send in your papers for the course work that you have completed to be marked.
From my experience the (ive done the SSO course) is really good and i learnt a lot more about the SSO role then i did sat in a classroom looking at powerpoint slides.

1) It's our new, green, eco friendly world.
2) None of that nasty lead stuff flying about. Do you have ANY idea of its environmental impact once it's drilled a nice neat little hole through you and fallen to ground ?
3) As long as your training / achievement is one level higher than your opposition in Call of Duty, you'll ALWAYS be the victor, not only that, but can pause the battle while Pizzahut delivers.

mmmhhhh, not sure how take the last few comments especially when it comes from a "super moderator", hopefully with a pinch of salt!!!
The truth of the mater is that within the maritime sector there are a few qual's that cost a huge amount, mostly for the over heads of having an instructor, place to conduct the lessons and accommodation etc which as we all know is offset on to the customer / the lads.......so why do this when you can do all the distance learning from the comfort of your home, surrounded by the people/family that for the probable 9 other months you spend time away. This is nothing new as most lads within the industry have been doing the distance learning for "security mangers degrees / diplomas" all of which give an individual a tick in the box no more.
Granted for the Hostile Environments unlike the SSO / MSO lectures of the maritime sector there isn't much you can learn from home, but hey lets face it a HEC is a feed of C*&p as well but for this you get to pay for the privilege and be away even more from the ones you love.
Sorry guys its not time of the month im just sick to death of individuals on CP World havin a go / ripping the shit out of an individual just asking for guidance......this is what this site is for isn't it along with many more benefits.
