What are these trucks and why on earth are there officers on foot?

I reckon it's the new improved MK2 White Flag shipment. Apparently it's self deploying so French troops don't have to even risk themselves by being on the battlefield to surrender. Not to be used in the same warzone as the MK1 French Foreign Legion as the lack of surrender from the FFL may confuse the enemy into giving up themselves, fearing a trap.

The French officers are either showing what to do when the MK2 White Flag is used, or the silly buggers got out for a bite to eat and took so long the trucks went without them.
