Project management and Security Consultant courses. Advice needed

Gents,
I am looking to build upon my CV and employability by getting a few courses under my belt.
My background is ex forces (para reg) 12 years leaving as a PL SGT. I then moved over to maritime and ended up as a Site security manager in Iraq.
As I am sure most people have found, I have a wealth of experience and subject matter but not many qualifications to show for it.
I am interested in PM roles for the future so Project management is something I am keen to have backing up my experience. However with so many courses out there its hard to gauge what is right for me.
The same goes with CSC courses. As I am currently self employed a consultant role is something I have taken on a number of times, but yet again I am finding experience is great but a diploma is better.
Any help or pointers would be a great help.
Thanks in advance.

David, if you are looking for PM qualifications there is no doubt that PRINCE2 is the most widely recognised; it's not the only method / qual out there, and a Google search will bring up two or three more. But its safe to say PRINCE2 is the most widely recognised.

That said I've never knowingly won work purely for having this qual - I have however not had a lookin in the past because of not having it.

On the consulting front; its tricky as consulting is a catch all term. The CSC is good ( I've done it) but it won't get you work by itself. Drop me a DM on this front and I'll give you some direction and pointers as there are a wealth of options out there and it can be a mine field.

Excellent, seen. On the PM front I think you need to have made 5 forum posts to have the PM function enabled - I'm sure a Mod can confirm.

Currently in the same situation, I have chosen to do the CPP with ASIS, The Business Continuity Certificate with the BCI and PRINCE 2. I have given myself a three year deadline to complete.
It took many hours of research to decide as there are so many qualifications out there.

3280cookie,

Not started yet, just getting my admin sorted. Gone through the handbook looked at study plan ect - I was not aware of the intense 1 week course or two week study programme, could not see any reference to that on the website, could you point me in the right direction for that? would be appreciated.
