I have requested an SC1 clearance for a new employer who states i must have it, i have been on the phone all day getting fobbed of saying " the company must be a donator to the MOD or some crap.
Now ive been told im entitled to this form but it seems there doing all they can not to let me have it.

i have phoned several people but end up back at the DVA who keep saying the same thing, where the hell do i stand on this? and am i allowed it or not?
ive been out since 2003 but have been told by DVA that it only lasts 1 year after i get out, but ive also been told it lasts for the rest of my life...

anyone have any good advice for me as im going to miss out on a job overseas, or any good phone numbers if you had the same problem and got through to some one who is not in a call center..

ive phoned
jpack
MOD
DVA

thanks

I've been in similar position !

You need sponsoring by one of your potential employers customers.

IF employer engaged in contracts with HMG / Police / Mil contractors, etc, where their employees must be SC cleared, they forward your name to client, and it happens, eventually.

If employers not engaged in any of those, and they just want kudos of saying their staff are 'SC Cleared', tell 'em to stop wasting your time. If it's necessary, THEY'll get it, IF they've got the contracts.

i was in the army and used to do crypto and also used to be part of the ops rooms/int cell in Belfast, i need this SC to work overseas and i got told i should have had it when i came out of the army.

the army says its massive on getting x-soldiers into work in civvi street but all its doing is hindering me.

You're job might have required certain clearance levels, but the mob is renowned for cutting corners where it suits. Did you ever fill in your SC forms and get your chit saying you had achieved SC?

no i didn't fill in any form for that,
ive found out now through lots of phone calls that if you have obtained SC in the army it lasts for 1 yr after you get out incase you want to get back in, and to get said clearance you have to have a sponsor which is a company that is doing government contracts,
so, to surmise, if you aint doing government contracts you dont need one.

might save someone a lot of hassle in the future if he searches for it in the forums.

Not too sure where you're getting your info from mate. If you never filled in the forms, you've never been vetted (over and above CTC).

SC is only time barred by the date on the vetting form (10 years for SC), it doesn't have anything to do with leaving the forces. But even DV is only truly correct immediately after the vetting!

Lots of external jobs that have nothing to do with the mob prefer/demand vetted employees......... http://www.securityclearedjobs.com/

I'm also a little surprised you found it so difficult to find any info on the topic. A phone call to one of the Int/Police units (who will have a dedicated vetting office) would have got answers immediately (should have)!
