The legislation says that he can ask for any documents etc but it also says the followuing Although the words have been slightly changed by me):
Your man is required to comply with any reasonable request made by you (or any person present on the premises) with regards to:
-stating the purpose for which his power is being exercised
-showing the authorisation by the Authority for his exercise of the power
-producing evidence of his identity
He can choose to ask you to carry ID if he so desires.
It is written in the legislation.
But the bit that I have copied above.....If he is being arsey with you when you have done nothing wrong, then why not ask him for two forms of ID too?
(as you are entitled to do under the auspices of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 chapter 12 section 19 para 4)
Hope that sheds a bit of light
