This is a 14 day course aimed at anyone who wishes to work as a Close Protection Operative (CPO). It is based on the relevant SIA’s Specification for learning and qualifications and is supported by skills for security, the standards setting body for the security industry and the SIA, who regulate the private security industry.

What does the course cover?

*Roles and responsibilities of the Close Protection Operative,
*Threat assessment and risk management, surveillance techniques and venue security operations.
*Understand the legislation that is relevant to people working in the close protection industry
*Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Close Protection Operative
*Know the importance of threat assessment and risk management
*Know surveillance techniques
*Understand venue security operations
*Know how to design and demonstrate operational planning
*Know the importance of interpersonal skills
*Know the importance of teamwork
*Know the importance of reconnaissance
*Know how to conduct close protection foot drills
*Know the importance of planning and selecting routes
*Know vehicle movement tactics and operations
*Know the search techniques and procedures for close protection operations

Assessment Method:

All candidates will take a multiple choice examination, open response questions and practical assessment.

What Qualification will you obtain?

HABC Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry (QCF)
What to do after you have passed your qualification:
You can apply for your licence through the SIA (Security Industry Authority) this licence will last for 3 years and costs £220
When applying for a Close protection licence, learners will be required to produce evidence that they have attained a recognised first aid award. Learners should present their valid first aid certificate to their training provider before starting training. If they do not have a recognised first aid award, they will need to get one in order to apply for a licence. This is in addition to the minimum 140 hours of knowledge and practical skills training.

Entry Requirements:
There are no prerequisites for this qualification.
It is advised that learner have a minimum of level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.
This qualification is approved for learners over the age of 18.

ID Requirements- all learners must be instructed to bring photographic identification to the assessment to be checked by the invigilator/assessor. HABC will accept- Valid Passport, Signed UK Photo card driving licence, valid warrant card issued by HM Forces, Police.

There is an initial deposit of £900 which can be paid via various different methods. Bank transfer, PayPal, Card Payment or cash. (The remaining monies is due on the start date of the course)
