Who is the best?

Hello all,

If possible I'd like a bit of discussion on remote site medical companies.

Is there any company out there that everyone wants to work for ?
Where are the best salaries and T&C's to be found

Having been in the remote site med business for 5/6 years I have heard of the good old days of big money in the UK oil and gas sector for medics but that seems to be a thing of the past with HSE now being a well paid gig and medics on reasonable money compared to other offshore workers. Apart from a few isolated exceptions low cost companies (think easy oil !) are now the norm.

On the international scene you also hear of medics not getting out of bed for anythimng less than $500 per day but they fail to say if it is a permanent role or short term contract and if they are significantly exposed.
There seems to be alot of companies out there but how trustworthy are they?

Who would you say is the best company for a career? where you can develop either as a nurse, dr / paramedic and furtherup the ladder into related managerial roles.

This is aimed more at those who have to keep professional registrations rather soldier/ close support medics where it is an additional duty.

thanks

Vague1, If we knew that, we'd all be clamoring to work for them. I think it comes down to your personal attitude and motivation. If you're happy and do a good job, you tend to get paid more and promoted. If you're wanting to be nothing more than a medic, you're limiting yourself. Get your HSE cert, or hostile experience, or teaching certs or dive medic or business degree, etc. and you bring more to the table and demand a higher salary. Or take a lesser paying job for the travel bennies and, who knows? That could be the next 'gold mine' and you've already got experience there! If this doesn't make sense, I'm blaming it on jet lag.

Prob not a new concept, but I have been asked to organise a medical section for a company.

With this in mind I have been able to source a number of doctors and we will hopefully offer free training each month to our staff. We have access to cross channel ferries and similar so with our fingers crossed we hope to be able to provide good staff and career models.

But im sure that most of the other companies look after there guys just as much.
