42 is not old! I deployed at 47 and just last week I attended refresher Parachute Training at 60... Good luck mate!

My advice? for what it is worth? Do not confuse the terms Extraction, Evacuation or a plain old simple 'Out'..! In fact the criticality is in the reverse order to what I have written. Good luck with your hunt! but as many have already said???? Experience is quite essential and very valuable...
