Anyone know anything about ISA-Israel?

Yeah, it does sound pretty damn degrading...guess the whole "free" aspect drew me in. Think I'll just save up and take a course here in the states. I just don't want to spend tons of money on a course and not be able to find employment afterwards. Will being a paramedic help me find employment? I talk to someone a while ago who works for a company in new york and she said they need more medically trained people in the field.

CrazyCat,

I am based in Israel and have been involved in several facets of security for 20 or so years. I currently work for a large EP company (100+ full time agents/CPO's) which is HQ'd in the US where I am director of Training and Consulting.

As far as the US/International market goes, there is a tangible demand for female EP agents ;your paramedic qualification is a huge plus. Get an EP qualification with a recognised company and your chances of getting a job are good. I find there is huge value in having women on any protective detail.

Where in the US are you?

Please fee free to contact me via PM and i'll be happy to objectively answer any questions you may have. My objective is not to try and sell you training, rather to help you.

Hi fbg,new to the site so excuse my question if its out of place ? As a female in the industry i have worked mostly over the waters from UK so have never needed to do a course, have been with the same family for 19 years protecting my clients growing up, for the early years i was nanny security with the other family nannies, this progressed to being in charge of the security elements within the party and responsible for the liason with the parents (diplomatic) and deployment of the men on the ground, these being mainly Brits with additional local nationals drafted in from the various countries we visit, my point is this ! no matter what training courses these boys had done for their sia badge they were all the same mentality in their work ethics ,they had not got a clue as to what to do in the real world working enviroment, thank god for the older men who were laid back and just got on with it.I trained with firearms in the states/UK before the ban and the Middle East but i have always felt i have let myself down the martial aspect of training ,i have never done any form of fighting skill and apart from the fact that i am physicaly fit and can fight like a bitch to protect my wards i have always felt this weakness of relying on the male members of the team to carry the fight if required but then i feel as if they are protecting me as well as the principals ? So their is the question ?for all you trainers out their ,who is the best to instruct a female in the art of cpo self defence? could i ask you fbg your opinium and who trained you for your sia badge and should i go down that road or just carry on? And yes all you men out their who are going to reply ,,,,research ,check the forums etc ,i have but i want it from a specific,a woman whos done it.Thank you in advance.

I am sending one of my in-house senior instructors from Israel to conduct a 3 day (3, half days) Krav Maga FOR CPO seminar in NW London in October. This will NOT teach you everything you need to know, not even close, but it will be beneficial as a starting point/taster. Please feel free to PM me for details or watch this forum for more details.

It won't let me send a PM, guess cause I'm new. Anyway, I'm located in Virginia, a little south of Washington D.C. but I would be willing to travel for a good EP school. I've been looking into EP/ close protection for a while but I'm finding it hard to get any objective answers about training or the industry in general. I'm very interested in security, but don't want to spend loads of money on training if I'm not going to find employment. Glad to hear there is tangible need for female EP agents though. I'm also interested in surveillance and private investigation. Are there EP schools that train students in these areas as well or do they generally just stick to close protection? I'm also a little concerned my age would work against me because I'm twenty-five but look quite a bit younger. Although I think this could be an advantage in some respects. Is there anything you can advise me of to prepare for training/ a career in the industry? I've taken martial arts (jiu-jitsu, muay thai, krav maga) since I was a teenager and am taking some basic firearms classes at the moment. Any advice on reputable schools? Thanks.

CC.

You have made 5 posts and can now send PM's. (Private messages)

You should contact MTS via that means.

Also use the SEARCH bar at the top right of the page to peruse anything that may be of interest to you.

Remember it is all about networking, keeping your skills sets sharp and never turn a gig (task) down as you never know where it may lead if you are one of the few that shines on a task.

PS: You can contact SCT (Username) on this forum in regards to firearms training via pm. His company is based in Florida.
Apologies in advance to the mods if this breaks advertising rules. But he is a known professional operator and one of the few we can vouch for in the forum Stateside.

Regards.

Have a look at Icon Services crazycat, not sure where they run their courses but are based in Minnesota. A reputable company for sure.
Executive Protection & Bodyguard Training | Icon Services Corporation

Elijah and team are great, and focus on the celebrity side (some of their instructors do have "shoes on the ground" surveillance experience as well).

They also offer scholarship type arrangements.

You'll also see my courses from my previous company on the Icon site.

I am running a corporate EP course in Bellevue, WA in November and again in Atlanta, GA in December. I will also be running a Surveillance Detection Course and separate Protective Surveillance/Covert EP class in Mountain View, CA in October.

I know that short/days long firearms courses are the norm in the US, but I would recommend you save your $ for an EP course, then a driving course...and never stop learning. Firearms training will not get you the job and IMO should be at the bottom of your list.

Your PM's should be working now - feel free.

On another (but related) note, do you have a college degree?

59NYB Slightly confused by your post, are you saying you were a nanny and now run the security detail? I read an article a couple of weeks ago about a female who had been a PA and therefore around CP teams she then did a CP course and ended up as a team leader
which not only made my blood boil but scared me witless, being around a CP team does not make you an operator.

I did my course 30 years ago way before the SIA so only had to do the exam. Personally I did unarmed combat taught to me by a couple of guys who once up a time hung around on a balcony. We as females however do not normally have the upper body strength that our male colleagues possess so the truth is could I put one man on the deck, yes probably, could I put two down ...no.

But as ive said before, if we get into a fight then we have lost, its not our job as CP to fight its our job to remove our principal and leave the fighting to the back up team

fbg

Hi fbg, thanks for reply, not sure why your confused?you should know the pecking order of my position ? the young principle had at an early age her own nannies of from within the palace confines, the majority still like children themselves in their knowledge outside the Kingdom,my position at the beginning was to be the nanny of nannies looking after all the nannies and their children on a different level to them ? a person to liaise with the principals about their children and to collectively make sure the nannies and the whipping children were looked after in the world outside the Kingdom, over the years the children become teenagers and don't want to be seen out and about with the nannies, the security are instructed to be kept further back ,not quite out of sight depending where and who they are visiting and it came more on my shoulders to stand alone, please don't lecture me on the whys an wherefores of self defence (NOT FIGHTING)as i know exactly what my duties are ,But there are many places where the security team let alone the male bodyguard are not allowed to go with the female parties and i feel that i should up-skill my own level of self defence.I have never trained to be a nanny or cpo and in my career to date of not been impressed with the many i have worked with, including their own royal guard who i am also in charge of when they are out of their own environment,i am responsible only to my principals. There are many times we have local female security attached to us but its all too over the top especially in the states and parts of europe and the same applies to them, overbearing and i am told to replace them quite frequently.I am asking for a very short sharp few days or weeks training of no bull defence lessons i don't need one or two of the five thousand who stood on the balcony ,just someone who can give me some dirty moves, sorry fbg for my response but you are looking down on me like many new guys on the job do ,until we get on the streets or there is a problem.
I have looked on the web for a trainer near to me (Cheshire)but can find nothing suitable ? i am quite surprised in my search that there where no training companies for Bodyguards in the UK till the late 1980s (about 1988) so i presume you did a military or police course in your day even though it was for only one week. Many thanks for the people who have suggested genuine training to me,not enough posts for PMs yet and any further helpful suggestions will be appreciated! but please nothing condescending,i am not new to this position, thanks.

Well ive just read the link and all I can say is for **** sake it sounds like women usually achieve low scores so this course will help apparently, it is done over months obviously so that we can get child minders in place, and not suffer withdrawal symptoms of being away from the kitchen sink for 4 weeks at a time. It is so degrading its not funny.

heno to answer your questions on the special courses, we do these for the following reason.

1) Whilst cooking like a domestic godess and learning to lick a spoon seductively we learn to laugh at our husbands in restaurants when he has his hand round our throat, secretly we grab his bollocks under the table squeeze hard whilst throwing ourhead foreward to connect with the bridge of his nose hopefully resulting in breaking it.

2) Female course 2 is where we learn to coiffeur our hair, wear make up and as hard assed girlies we wax our legs not shave them.

3) We learn to repel the advances of our male colleagues especially the spotty newbies who at 25 years old hang on your every word when they should be checking out the zit cream at boots. Hope this clears up our need for female courses lol

fbg

Ah I see, now it's all clear! Is the course syllabus written by Gene Hunt from Life on Mars by any chance?!!

Heno

dear 59 NYB, no one was looking down at you at all, you have however made your position clear. Your a nanny who thinks they know more than the security professionals whom your principles employ.

Met many like you many times, you would be advised to leave the security to those who are employed to do it your opinon on wether it is over the top probably does not take into consideration the Intel and threat level that those in security are paid to know.
Good luck with finding a self defence course

I would like to say thank you to one of the members of this site,he told me not too but he gave me two full days training,i stayed in his home with his family and gave me training in, unarmed combat ,knife and firearms tactics ,it was totaly different from what i expected and has fully opened my eyes for me to do a full on course with one of the main training providers that are on the market.I cant thank you enough for your generosity and trust of me and cant believe you would not take any payment.Thank you you have made a friend for life.

Just to reiterate what I have said previously, and I stand by it:

I think you are right to have concerns. I recently had a discussion with them about Jim Shortt where they told me that I should have respect for that piece of shit because of his acheivements and his great contribution to "bodyguarding" (thier words not mine). For me that was enough.
