Armoured vehicle emergency entry kit

All,

Advice sought please.

The organisation I am currently working for are after a kit which can be used to force entry to an armoured vehicle, namely Toyota landcruisers, following a road collision or similar, in order to extract the personnel inside the vehicle.

There are some products on the market, however I am not familiar with them.

Any recommendations of kit would be appreciated.

Regards

Chris

Im not sure what is available these days, but back in the early days in Iraq, say up to 2009, we used big sledge hammers and crow bars.

Thanks Ops 1, agreed that's what we did then and it was one of my suggestions. There is a kit in the US, but it retails at about $6000 per kit and that's before shipping costs.

I'm probably way off base here but what about a micro cutting torch or a plasma cutter? I'm sure you've already considered the hydraulic e-tool (jaws of life), right? Only problem with the torch is the risk of fire. Not sure how well they work on glass though. Definately faster but higher risk.

I'm with Howard, hydraulic jaws of life type tool reduces the risk of accidental ignition, bare in mind fuel spills etc might be worth considering a Porta-power which is a manually operated version of the jaws of life.

Conwy,
The only device purpose made I know of is the RAT - rapid access tool which is Amercian. Otherwise your going down the formal rescue tool road, personal use I would recommend holmatro equipment they do a lightweight range of tools.
Feel free to PM me if you want any other help.
Cheers

Russ, many thanks for your input. I have looked at the RAT, costs a small fortune and it is surprising that there appears to be only one company which make a rescue kit designed for an up armoured vehicle. I have emailed Holmatro and will see what they come back to.
It may be that in the end the old Hoolie bar and sledgehammer may be the preferred option by the purse holders.

Conwy,
Have a look at vimpex kit, battery operated tools from rescue tools UK may not be man enough, battery power etc. Gaining access to an up armoured motor will take a long time using hand tools and lots of energy !.
Feel free to PM me if you need any further help.
Cheers
Russ
