Hi Guys (and girls)

I am looking for a professional favour if anyone can assist?

Is there anyone close-ish to Warwickshire that is in a position to loan me a bullet proof vest for a job we are engaging on next Thursday 4th Feb 2010 (duration 5 days)?

The job involves some rather nasty drug dealers and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Chest size 44 or x-large

I am obviously happy to collect and return.

Please contact me direct on my email:
maria@warwickshireinvestigation.co.uk

Thank you in advance ;)

LOL what if you get shot you will make a hole in somebodys vest. Will you buy them a new one??

Jesus wept..!!!

I'll try and be constructive with this and offer my tuppence worth...

OpSec - So there's a job going down near Warwickshire, duration 5 days involving drugs and possibly a fire arms threat. I guess "nasty sorts" that follow this site will be well prepared. If it's a real threat then you'll have advised the appropriate services?...and that you've blown OpSec..!!!

Borrowing Ballistic Protection - You have no idea of the history - have the hard plates been abused? If it's soft armour how much degradation does it have have?

Returning Ballistic Protection - Has it been abused, how do I know?

For the price of a long weekend in London you could have maintained opsec and have peace of mind for your personal protection.

I'm assuming if you're on a high threat task, then you should be swept up enough to know the above.

I'm I alone in my opinion on this?

Confused.

Thank you Pitchblack....very constructive!
It is you that has assumed wrongly that the OPsec is in Warwickshire - durh. So in terms of blowing anything you couldn't be further from the truth.
Yes, all the people that need to be aware of this operation in official circles have been advised but thank you for your insight.

Seems that the only thing being blown is your own trumpet.

If you really live your mission statement viz "highest standards in every area" then why would such a company try to blag ballisitic protection. I'd advise you use your "vast investigative experience" and track down and buy some pucker protection.

There are only a few things in life that get my goat and one of them is stupidity when it comes to personal protection.

Moderators, feel free to move this to the relevant area if you feel the need.

im gonna join in here and use the ass directective (assuming makes and ass of you and me)
im assuming your an investigator or into surveillance now you have a job on an individual or individuals who are also involved in crime and a high level now i have helped some companies who are involved in surveillance in high risk areas and they use technical surveillance would this not be a more appropiate task than putting yourself at risk im sure the police when a risk at this level would go technical.
just my tuppance
be safe mate whatever you do

I am grateful for your input and thankful for your sentiments of safety-sincerely. I am aware of the options open to us on this assignment and please trust that a thorough risk assessment has been made, hence the request.
I will not on this open forum discuss the tactics of this operation but suffice to say, all options have been considered and all bases covered. The agitator of this post, whilst not putting his point of view across very professionally in my opinion, did give me pause for thought beyond that already given (for that I will publicly thank you)
In an environment where we all should be open minded enough to continually assess and reassess our risk assessments against objectives and the reality of resources, I wish to make it clear that as an ex- royalty protection officer and ex-police surveillance specialist, I would like to think that I still have an open mind and that we can still all benefit from advice , however it may be delivered or disguised - Otherwise what is the point of these forums, other than to benefit from each others unique experiences?
Brand new vests are on order! ;)

What brand have you gone with out of interest.?
I'm assuming you've gone the covert route.

If this has a chance of going live. My advice would be buy your own covert or overt set of armour. The Tecnical Side I would look at again you need to be stood off, be on foot or mobile or just one location. Think about the out come and what you need at the end is it the information for the third party is it for the court and will they need photo's, sound etc. Then will be allowed in court, as RIPA needs to be looked at. May have looked at this at the wrong angle and understand you are putting things in place for your proctection. But look again at the tecnical side and a good and clear bugout route
