CP for a new Career

Good day to all

Currently still serving in the Forces i wish to follow a new career in HECP after my ROD of June 2012.

I have opened this new thread in the hope that the Gunners amongst us can talk and help each other in pursuing a career in CP, without making mistakes through miss guidance, faulty knowledge and bad practice.

I of one have researched a great deal into what CP course to attend etc, but i know there are no promises for a job once qualified.

Already looking around this site, it seems i know or know of various people, `'AndyE' (How you doing), 'Kitch'...i was speak to Lilly Savage the other day and she mentioned your name.

I could do with advice, my first question is, as niggy as it may sound.

Q: Where in the process of qualifying ourselves for work does applying for a Fire Arms Licence come in, where would i find the info? i can quess i will learn alot and require contacts whilst attending a CP course.

A: ?

If anybody has any other questions or answers please input to help others making the mistake.

yours Soncerely

Vito

If you find yourself doing UK protection for a family a Shotgun FAC could prove useful incase your asked to take the guns to a shop for maintenence, or carry them for your client.
You wont require a Full FAC for anything else as the Licences are Regional within the UK and your services will be unarmed whist on UK soil.

I used to have a nice .308 and had to apply for a new licence every time I moved to a new region.

Hi Mate,

Think long and hard mate as there really is no gravy train out there.

How long have you served in the Arty?

Also as i have mentioned in other posts,
some companies won't employ you unless you have at least 3 Op Tours under your belt.
Hard rules but i'm afraid thats how it is.

The big Global hitters can cherry pick from UK / US SF mate
So again you are literally up against hundreds if not thousands of
Cv's these companies get.

CP/ UK is saturated at the moment with newbie qualified CPO's chasing the "dream"

Many won't make it and fall back on DS / static security jobs,
Again a harsh reality mate.

I wish you well mate.

Sorry if this sounds negative bud but reality kicks in
Outside the Wire mate.

Regards

Dance with the Devil:

Thanks for the advice, i've been in 21 years now, 1st tour was Op Granby, have toured the middle east 5 times now, i hope this will help. I understand CP work is slightly different and the hardest part is getting your foot in the front door.
Devil do you have work at the moment? Thanks again Vito.

Manxmerc:

Thanks, that answers my question...............Vito

No probs matey,

You seem switched on and squared away mate,
And your tours of duty in the far east should stand you in good stead for
hostile work, try the big hitters like Aegis.
