Hand held radios, there's any number of good suppliers, including me :), dealing with everything from Motorola / Hytera, down to cheap fleabay sh1t.

Ideally speak to someone local that can advise and help if you need advice or help further down the line after you've bought them.

Its for security work. Someone who works at construction site needs ears at the back gate as he gets lots of interest from the travellers at night. The distance is 500-700m.

So you are suggesting a need for sound activated transmission? or vibration activation? Both? Then activate what? Colored dye? R/F Link? sounds like a fun job...

I'd go for floodlights and bright pink dye that would cover everything in the area. Bright pink criminals wandering around wondering what the f**k just happened amuses me for some reason.

I remember taking a set to someone and him making me a kc shift out of copper wire and a matchstick. I'm not joking either. Seriously i was a teenager and I stood in awe. It was an old 'president grant' 11mtr rig that I salvaged from a locker in the trawler I was working on. I used it for years until I put on the 12v wires the wrong way round. same fella fixed it and he still calls me diode to this day. He put one in to stop me doing that again. I learned a lot from that guy
Coulda been angus macguyver.
