Difficulties in finding an NHS paramedic job

I've had exactly the same trouble. Applied to Yorkshire got told I had a job, then they had to freeze their intake of new paramedics and im left waitin until someone quits or retires. I applied SECA aswell so hopefully ill be sorted with them. If I was you I would apply to anything, theres an EMAS one on NHS jobs website at the minute but thats it on there for now. Good luck

London are recruiting again. Try again the HR department work in mysterious ways and you may fail once and be the top candidate the next time with the same CV. Make sure you cover every key point in the job description because thats how they shortlist. I've worked for the LAS for ten years and though I am now looking to escape its a great service to get a lot of experience in a short amount of time. Good luck

problem you will face is that as in nursing, paramedic training is now seperate from ambulance trusts and is undertaken by universities who do not look at the number of vacancies with each trust, they just want bums on seats on their uni courses, and as such there are more people being trained each year than vacancies that occur and so we have a flood of trained personnel.

Trusts can therefore be choosy as well

I'm 3 1/2 years in the making of a paramedic and will be qualified next summer. The lack of job prospects is unsettling but if push comes to shove I'll 'have' to move elsewhere in the UK or even farther afield. This scenario seems to be becoming the norm.

Yes, in the course of running about the country and attending a fair few interviews, it does indeed seem a different world for paramedics that are seeking work in the NHS than it was a few years ago.

I've met a fair few even quite well established paramedics who have not managed to get jobs for quite a while, and some newly qualified ones that have been trying for months, even a year sometimes to find one.

Bravomedic,

Nobody said there weren't jobs being advertised, but when you go for them, there's only a few, and they're being massively inundated with applicants. And then add in other personal factors, and then that's why it's hard to get the jobs.

Cheers, RL

Hey guys,
I'm sorry if I sound an ass but I don't understand how you're finding it difficult to finding Paramedic jobs when I came across the first NHS trust advert offering a £2,000 golden hour.

NHS Jobs - Job Details

The difficulty isn't finding a job opportunity, it's finding an opportunity that suits me best (or least disrupts me). If I were qualified I'd be applying for that post - trust me.
