Enforcement officer equipment

I know its not entirely related to the private security proffesion but i know that many people have been an enforcement officer or baliff before entering it, so are there any ideas on what gear i would need to be in the baliff industry.

Thanks for any tips

Your post suggests that you don't know anything about the industry you want to enter. Other than a van and blank walking possession agreements and a consumer credit licence, a bailiff doesn't require any 'gear'. All contracts are held by the big players such as Drakes and you will need to go to your local Magistrates Court and become certificated if you want warrant work or rent work.

Why do you want a career preying on the poor and making people's lives a misery anyway? Between clampers and bailiffs, I don't know who needs shooting first.

The weapons you require as good communication, patience, tolerance, sense of humour, a sharp pencil for form filling, a mobile phone to call the cops when some huge brute is dangling you upside down by ones ankles and failing that a good pair of pumps to run like F*** when they set the family pit bull loose.

Good Luck

I disagree with bailiffs, yes there are some people who are genuinally in a mess but at the end of the day the company they work for need to recover some of there money, you can't expect to get 5Ks worth of credit, spend it all and not pay a penny back.

And clampers, you are seeming to forget they don't just clamp anyone, they clamp those who are stealing a service by not paying parking tickets and whatnot.

you have hit the nail on the head mate, debt can only be collected from debtors.. i know some people do fall on hard times but all they need to do it keep the lines of communication open with the credit company.

clamping is again only a problem if you float the law and or rules of parking regs that are in place.

thierry,

if you hope to get work as a debt collector as said earlier you need a consumer credit license from the oft, to work as a bailiff you need to be court appointed, you could also look into process serving.. there is a bit of work in that field not always mega money but a steady flow.

Tools To Be a Bailiff??

Already been said.

Drakes etc are the big players, you must have no CRB Record, no negative credit history, willing to work on your toes. be prepared to collect debts from 5-10 years old!!

Bottom line is you are a civvie executing a warrant, if you feel vulnerable at the address you must contact the cops and get their support.

Climbing skills are good, ie if a window is open you can enter!!

There is a need for bailiffs but the ones I know are shit at everything else and it is the only way they can make GOOD money. I tried it, was good at it then thought, this is a really bad way to make a living, however they are a necessity, imagine you were owed money??

Training is usaully just shadowing another wide boy and a bit of classroom input.

Good luck.....

Thamnk you for the positive comments and i'll keep them all in mind, i do understand its a job that no one likes but in the end peope who refuse to pay off debts are thieves and what i plan to do is a job to help support myself and my family. And at least im not becoming a traffic warden :D

Thierry, you may want some of our covert body armour in that job or at least some slash resistant gloves.

I must admit bailiffs and clampers rank very low in my books, finally the SIA are doing something about some of the thugs that run clamping and squeeze hundreds out of crying women holding there kids when there car has been clamped....but hey theres my rant for the day

Show how much you rate them why not boycott selling PPE to them no because end of the day someone else will sell it them its a world cycle there's always someone who will do the job enforcement or clamping.

not everyone that refuses to pay off a debt is a thief!!!!! there may be a legitimate reason for not paying off a debt for example loan companies that will push credit on to people that really cant afford anymore debt or the insurance policies that recently were ruled illegal in some cases , you have the people that are inheriting loved ones debts after they have died and a multitude of other reasons that there could be , yes i agree that some people may take the piss but how dare you or anyone else label people thieves . if that is your attitude then you should find some other form of work :mad:

oh , before anyone bites.............. i have never been in a single bit of debt in my life and have never been clamped either but in my view the vultures that work in that field deserve everything they get , clampers and debt collection agents = bullies that thrive on misery of vulnerable people..........
