Well he was overweight anyway but it's disappointing. Showers are dangerous things.

Anyway, on that topic we have Mayweather vs McGregor coming up on the 26th August. I have a notion Conor will win but get disqualified for a cheeky knee or kick, I'm not a betting man but I might put a fiver on that.

What do you think?

the match i understand is boxing.
One guy has some experience boxing, the other not
One is old, really old for the sport compared with the other.
One of the guys is worth millions, a shitload of them, the other not so much, like 10%

This reminds me of the Rocky 3 film, going for 4, let us prepare a show, forget about sport and get rich as hell!!
So I see a telly show maybe some good punch but plenty of cockiness and the setting of a second match, even an MMA match.
My money would go to the opportunistic just as a way to get the old glory get a rematch and double the money, but doubt that any boxing fan will consider what will happen worth.

Col,

Truth be known McGregor has never faced an opponent with such devastating punching power.
As soon as one clean shot connects he will go into panic mode, he will not know what to do...in fact the very thing he has had drilled into himself through his training he cannot do.

It is a great money make scheme that will provide both fighters with a healthy purse and little more, now if Mayweather agreed to a MMA bout then I'd back McGregor but as it is a boxing bout it's really no contest.

Agreed Premier,
maybe my statement of 'conor will win' was a tad hasty but the 'panic mode' will get the knees and elbows out on autopilot.

I still err toward disqualification.

Finally I have a spare half hour to myself, I'm on the computer now not the phone, I didn't see the fight that night but I'm watching it on youtube as we speak. I've just paused it on round one, I'm thinking Conor is outclassed, I'm not going to do a running commentary or anything but Floyd boxes like I play chess and poker, patience, wait for your opening and go for it. I know the result but I'd have hoped it might have been a closer match.

Col,

For the money they both made I would have fought both of them at the same time.

Not saying it would have been a long fight but entertaining definitely.
That said I certainly would have earned my purse.

When you put it that way you do have a point. I had the pleasure of meeting Conor once, he's an intelligent man with nothing to learn. That fight set him up for life. After I watched it yesterday a few other videos of him came on after, one was him doing a commentary on a Norman Park fight, Norman was born in the same village I was, the guys doing well for himself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c5EsXeg1pU

Right Premier, you and I as a tag team against both of them, we'll fight for a fiver purse but it'll be boxing, I wouldn't want to get into one of those leglocks lol.

In fairness any rematch should be in the cage.
And third bout should be on a street corner on a wet Friday night.
Just to keep it balanced.

OJ,

As you know a boxer can only box,
Not that that is a bad thing but unless the have trained in multidiscipline arts they aren’t very good once in the ground on their knees or back, they expect someone to count and let them stand up.
That is why Mayweather will never fight in a cage, and fair play to Conor for seeing it’s a business and getting himself paid.

It is worth the younger DS boys and girls remembering there is a new bred of fighters/athletes/gladiator type fighters that can train under one roof and become very accomplished fighting units whereas we had to visit multiple gyms or dojo to get the same pain delivered.
But reminiscing is for a later day with a beer my friend.

We all need to remember this. Its the the small guy at the end of the bar whos sipping water to watch. Hes the one wanting to take on the bouncers.... well either that or giovanni will bore us to death.
