Merit Industry Paramedic course

Good day all,

Has anyone recently started or completed the above mentioned course, i look to start it the end of this month and would like some info if possible. Please PM me. I have spoken to the guys at Merit and they have been extremely helpful.

Here is a website for reviewing courses for the security industry. It is called The Security Advisor. Take a look at the reviews that the Industry Paramedic has.

We are quite happy with The Security Advisor and suggest that all training providers belly up and have their students leave reviews. It is risky. Someone may leave a bad review but even bad reviews will allow for a better course in the long run.

I've done my industry paramedic course the last year with Merit and I'm more than satisfied to work with them.
Please, don't hesitate to ask your questions here, the answers can be helpful for future students.
I'm not surprised Aebhric O'Kelly and his team have been extremely helpful, they are here to provide the best course they can and not to enroll another student for his money.

Hi guys,

I am more than happy with the provider and Aebhric has been a great help thus far. The course is a certainty for me, my main query at present is whether i should attend a course prior to this in preparation for the course itself, or whether to just get stuck in. Curious as to how individuals found the distance learning phase and how the coped with taking in all the info?

Hi Starlight

Remote medic work mate, east africa, assisting NGOs, possibly the sand pit. That wont be until i have conducted additional CPD and additional Clinical placements first.

Long term goal is Uni route for the following 2 years and then possibly Exmed OSM course after some further experience and CPD. But thats looking into the very distant future.

Also there is an onshore medical facility at Mtwara, Tanzania in the Port that BG Drilling crew and and vessel crew members use. This is a possible place i wouldnt mind working at. I have a good grasp of Swahili also so maybe it would be an option. I have a few contacts in BG and onshore managers at the port so that may help with a foot in the door.

About distance learning phase, it depends the time you can spend in.
I was unemployed so I studied between 6 and 7 days a week on it.
If you have any problem you can send an email to your tutor.
English is not my mother tongue so I thought it was more complicated for me but when you have learned the technical vocabulary and you are in the good "way to do" it become easier.

After each chapter you have an online test : pass rate 80 %.
If I remember well, each chapter is between 16 and 130 pages and each test between 20 and 100 questions.
You also have a work to do every week sent by your tutor, you will have more info when you will begin your course from Merit.
don't hesitate to ask your questions to others students, past or current.

I've done my clinical placement in august the last year in Johannesburg, south africa. It was amazing, you're busy everyday, day and night.
I'm doing an extra week of placement in this moment to keep my skills up to date.
 
Sorry to hijack this thread, but I was looking at their Flight para/critical care course. Just curious if anyone has any experience of this one?

I have got 2 questions tomtom33. What was the pass fail rate of the students during the 4 week training? I ask because here in the USA for EMT-B only about 25% - 50% of the class actually passes.

Did you have any trouble finding a job after you were done?

I have no idea about pass fail rate.

I never had trouble finding a job after my course, done in 2013.
