Mobius Action Cam (New version of the 808 keyfob originals)

What on earth have they done to our favourite toy ?

The Mobius and keyfob should perform ok, but wtf are they doing with that lens ?

About as subtle / covert, as a kick in the nuts !

Missed the post above yours as it has been deleted so sorry if the below is not relevant.

Apparently most of buyers for the 808/mobius are those wanting an action cam for model airplanes and trains so their feedback has led to the Mobius and away from the keyfob design. The lens is big but easily transformed and you can get others that are simple to change. The HD quality is outstanding and coupled with the AV output for only £40 odd quid it is a steal.

If only it had wi-fi.........

Can see the uses for 'actioncam', I've supplied half the bikers around here :), and giving 'em a better lens makes a lot of sense.

I've just signed a deal with importer of similar, aimed at the taxi market. (No great lover of flogging kit to taxi drivers, it's just that they've a gorgeous little 4channel, sddvr, that's going to be a very neat deployable kit.)

Yes I agree this model is not as covert as the key fob design but here is the solution.

The key fob Model #26 is the standard key fob design but with the enhanced spec running full HD (1920X1080) Search eBay, they are currently selling for approx £65.00

So far so good. I use it in the car to record all the time for the last 20 days (it powers up with ignition and keeps running for 15 seconds on power off) and have got a couple of good bits of footage when not able to pick up my camera. The internal battery lasts the stated 80 minutes and the 32gb card I use has been fine. The AV out is very useful.I have used it a few times on foot but it really doesn't like being moved about when walking but as soon as you can be still or put it somewhere stable it is fine. The Configuration programme is dead easy to use and loads any updates that they come up with. The colour is spot on and HD quality. Only 6 days delivery from China as well.

I have been critical of the 808's in the past as a couple I bought only lasted a short while and ruined a few cards but then I realised that I had not got the ones from the original designer and that there are many copies about using the 808 tag but with different numbers. The Mobius and the 808 #16 are from the original designer and both work great. The 808's in the #20's are from a different designer and I haven't tried them but there is many a review on the RC forum.

I have included the Mobius thread below as it lists the UK suppliers if that is what you are thinking of:)

Thanks for all the info Rhea. Yes the market has been flooded with 808 copies in the past.

Been in touch with the original manufacturer recently to try to start bringing them (both the Mobius and the genuine 808) in so thanks for the comments, very helpful.

No probs, The #16 is working right now and earning money. Had this quite a while and hasn't let me down....yet:)

As I am not 'up' on all the oddities of UK Law any more, regarding what's not allowed, perhaps here's where I should ask the question; I have a very small device (and I do mean small) that at its heart is an unlocked quad band cellphone. I won't bore you with all the specs, but briefly; Connected to it is a tiny TF based camcorder that has a high gain mic, and a 2Meg colour video camera that I have Midniteyze'd. I can silently call it and power it on or off and other stuff. Once on, I can get it to send me a frame of video, and listen to ambient noise (speech) that it is recording. Is it legal in the UK? It's not legal in every State in the US, but is where I am. Wasn't sure about the UK. Is the UK truly a "One person consent" country?

'Mostly' legal'ish, as far as the camera is concerned. Police / Local Authorities / Public Bodies aside, as they have to contend with RIPA legislation, the private use of covert video sv is pretty much a free for all.

Covert audio surveillance is a distinctly dodgy area, and potentially lands the operator with criminal and civil penalties ?

...and don't even DREAM of phone tapping, interception, jamming etc you naughty boys !

Our SV legislation IS weird, and will almost certainly get more complex once the SIA gets involved.

Dear Mr Bloggs,

We are writing to inform you that we have been requested to place you under covert surveillance, by Messrs Soddit & Screwem.Solicitors., in order to verify your claim for Injury in the Workplace.
This will occur between the hours of 0900 and 1700, Mon to Fri, at a location of your choice....

So, on video it is one party consent, as in your kit, but on covert audible audio it is two party consent?
Where does that put me talking to you in a pub, and me covertly recording both sides of the conversation we have while some third party covertly video and audio records both of us talking?

Welcome to our world. :)

Every time you talk to a bank, call centre, etc, they go to great lengths to inform you that the call may / will be recorded.
During a recent conversation with my OLD bank, they asked me to confirm, twice, that I was neither recording the call, or had a 3rd party listening in.

Since this thread has been "drifted" I thought I might as well join in:rolleyes:

Not sure what world you are living in Vis??????

Banks, Call centres do not have inform you that the call is being recorded but most choose to.

You can record a conversation on a phone or otherwise as long as you are party to it and it is not going to be passed on to anyone else. You do not have to inform the other person of this. When I was detained by Plod a couple of months ago I recorded the conversation covertly and this has been handed to "professional standards" as their version of events was different to reality.

Recording and monitoring telephone calls or e-mails

I've just burned some footage from my Mobius Action Cam to a DVD via windows movie maker, but the quality of the footage is lost.

Is there a better way to burn to a DVD (so playable direct on a TV on and not necessarily on a computer)

It should be absolutely fine.

Movie maker not the best software around. When you copy the file to pc / laptop, what format is it saving it in ? Are there options for quality / resolution etc ?
