Hi everyone, I m Phil yet another newbie. Just qualified in January 12 and waiting for license to come back.
I live in North west and am looking for mainly event work. I understand that most event companies start looking for staff
around now. By the way I m 46.
Thanks Phil

Hi Phil, good luck with finding work. Events are usually pretty easy to get on though, look at G4s and Showsec, others on here could provide a more extensive list of security companies who recruit for festivals and stuff which they could be so kind to post bellow :)

Also mate, if you are looking for a bit extra money - as I say to most newbies - look at stadiums, SIA money is usually good (best in rugby and football stadiums, but rugby is around £2p/h more than football stadiums) they will also train you to have an NVQ and most are always looking for more SIA staff

Thanks for the advice. I ll just keep looking and asking. Everything seems to hinge on having my badge so hopefully should be back soon.

Stadiums! He's in Carnforth, be lucky if they have a domino team :) But seriously that area is a bit short on major sports teams, Blackpool and Preston are the nearest big ones, some of the small teams may need people but the pay might only be minimum wage. But it is worth it to get that NVQ and make some contacts.

FGH is the main company in your area for both doors and events, I believe they do Kendal Calling. Pro-tect UK in Carlisle also do festivals in Cumbria. As they will start planning now its worth sending a CV before you actually get your licence, then give them a phone when your licence comes through.
