Partner wanted to set up security company greater manchester

It's not the cash I need, I have the cash to put in,I also have 9 years experience of doors behind me, I'm not disheartened I just know how hard it is for a woman in the security world ,it's a hard game and I don't know if I would be taken seriously being a woman, I'm good at getting things done organising and telling people what to do, but I am no good at selling that's why I wanted a partner.

1) God help anyone that doesn't take FBG or some of our other members seriously.

2) Taking on a partner purely because of their sales skills isn't a good idea.

In the early stages, it's not so much about selling as networking. Yes, you're selling yourself, but you do that every time you're working the doors or you talk to a potential client. The confidence and self-presentation skills you show on the doors are no different.

Check out your local Chamber of Commerce or other local organisations for small businesses. Most have free or inexpensive workshops that will at least give you a head start.

Hmm..! some revelations there, all doubts are sometimes answered by inspiration!

Let me tell you about a woman that I know who was extremely savvy and turned a huge profit overnight... This was back in the 90's, yes I have been around that long I'm afraid, in fact 40 years in the Defence and Security industry including 15 yeals MIL.

Anyway, I digress! She purchased a 'Million' British Army jumpers at auction, at I think [and I'll stand corrected if I am wrong] £3 each and sold them the very next day to the French Foreign Legion for £7 each I think... somewhere around there anyway...

Not bad for a woman eh Caz?

If you are only looking at working doors, I wouldn't bother, the profit margins are way too small, you'd have to run 20 venues, just to make it sustainable.

You need to give the security market, a better level of service, at the same price. A lot of door staff now are jacket fillers, nothing else.

I'm all up for going on your own but you have to offer something new and exciting to an already cramped market. I recruit for Security, every event, from RST to Corporate CP but we don't do door work as it's considered too much hassle for very little profit margin.
