I joined the site over a year ago and like most people paid lip service and a little sceptical , however, in a ever chamging market a fantastic source of information and leads.

I am currently looking for suitable positions within the industry at various levels, look forward to all replies

Aegis

Are Aegis actually recruiting at present?

They seem to be inundated with applicants.

Can anyone here confirm if they have recently had an interview and been taken on by Aegis?

Stay safe all...

Yes mate i had a interview with Aegis on the 18 Sept 08 and had a phone call last week for a position out in Iraq.

Aegis

Cheers for that mate :)

Heard mixed reports about their status.

A friend of mine who I was out there with Aegis has just gone back... he got the news today but he'd been waiting to hear for a while!

When is your start date?

alright mate,

i've been with aegis for a bit now. came out here with CRG then jumped ship. CRG have a quick turnover of blokes because the pay is crap and you do 8 on 4 off but will probably get you out here quicker especially coming up to christmas. Aegis is better pay and you'll 9 on 3 off. much better work though. CRG are just an IZ taxi service run by ex RUC. next best time to apply is april for the end of the tax year.

hope this helps

Aegis

Hi mate, I think Aegis work on the odd recruiting "spurt" and it does sometime seem that you have an interview and then hear nothing, only then to write it off and then get a deployment warning order of literally 1-2 weeks.

I started with them in 04 and had interview to deployment in less than 10 days!

Finished with them after 3 yrs in Nov last yr due to illness. Good firm to work for and excellent pay/leave package, iIfor one will be trying to get back with them.

Weaponary and tactics are sound, as is the vehicle fleet and comms.

To summarise, it's well worth whacking in a CV and also indicating that you are willing to deploy @ short notice in your covering notes/letter.

PS Does anyone know if Blue Hackle and Olive are still maintaining a presence over in the sandpit?

Hope this helps mate...

Don't know about Blue Hackle but Olive are still out there. Heard that Olive may have picked up some more work down south if anyone else can confirm.

olive mainly do the convoys rather than psd and are still out here. don't see much of blue hackle, someone i know has just gone out to afgahn with blue hackle though. most companies are cutting down on costs, armourgroup for example now have 2 expats and 2 fijians as commanders for their convoy teams with the rest made up of LNs. there are loads of comapnies still operating out here and obviously the only reason blokes come out here is to get rich quick. BEAWARE of the sofa agreement if you plan on coming out here. the last thing you want is to end up in abu graib!!!
