I would say in my experience only, that its a hard nut to crack mate. You can earn good money for each individual job, but it's hard to earn a full time living from it. For me I have to wear other hats within the industry aswell. I live in Devon so work here is prob not as fruitfull as somewhere like London. If you have no idea about PI work it might be usefull to do a course or link up with a PI who will show you the ropes if you can find one that will. There are some good guy's on here who will more than happily give you an answer to a problem. I hope it works out for you mate.

Hi Jannerlad,

I am having a terrible time of it too. Good to know that i'm not the only one struggling here :/ I live in Swindon and am fully qualified to work but because i don't have the practical experience behind me, i'm coming up against a brick wall every time. Have thought of working for myself but i already know that that would be very hard going and have not worked for myself before.

If your message was for me then sorry but i don't understand you. I am here to try and gain some information and advice about getting into the PI industry. Like a lot of people here.

I don't know why people are finding it difficult...

This is one of our students from six months ago who was a novice within the PI industry, he's is now doing rather well for himself.

Hey Pete,

I'm not surprised that one of your pupils is making a living with their new skills,
I am also never surprised to hear that those that took an easy route or paid to get qualified with one who offers work only if you pay their fees get scammed!

I am surprised that people still fall for it, I do have some magic beans if anyone is interested!

Regards

Can anyone tell me if skills gained in the police as well as experience are transferable to the private sector, or do you still have to get civy qualifications to even have a chance of getting enough work to make a decent living?
