Hi. the only difference with analog and IP is the connection analog is BNC IP is RJ45. recorders are the same PC based or standalone.

remote storage can apply also to both which is the only time you need the internet.

I totally understand all of that, but my initial comment was based around cameras which only have remote storage and don't have anything on site - hence the question of what happens when the broadband connection goes down!
