'Skills For Security' training

I would be very much interested in hearing from operatives who have undertaken any of the courses offered by 'Skills For Security' - This forms part of a research project that links into a training and development programme that I am currently working on.

I would like to hear opinions about content, delivery, is subject matter relevant to the industry, is it to standardised and is it fit for purpose.

I appreciate that this topic could open up a 'standards debate', if possible can we keep the topic on track.

Thanks
Ricky

Larpy,

We used to have one of our courses accredited by SfS. We put a lot of work into our proposal...

Not long afterwards, we noticed another similar training provider also had acieved SfS accreditation. I knew the company (who had no experience and were an absolute joke).

The cynic in me said that they would accredit anyone who could fill in a form and submit a proposal without actually visiting or interviewing the applicant. Obviously money orientated - minimum of £1,000 per year.

As a consequence, we withdrew our training course from their scheme. SfS did not really give us any credibility whatsoever.

Peter,

Many thanks for your input it is appreciated. it has backed up what some other training providers have told me. I have also seen that a number of training providers will not go near SFS due to the standard and relevance of course content.

I am how ever still very interested to hear from a participants point of view.
