ok long story... in 2012 i took a SIA door supervision course through a company called KP Skills this was done via the job center (ingeus) and the course and ALL fees were to be paid by KP Skills... i passed all the requirements and sent off the docs with all needed, these however got returned to me due to 1 error so i duely corrected and sent back to the SIA.. now the cheque that KP Skills provided had been sent back to me also but i never knew this and didnt receive this.. I waited for the licence to be issued for 4 weeks then got a letter saying the cheque had not been received.. rang found out what had happened and rang KP Sills.. ok new cheque to be sent to me to forward...never got, rang again told would be sorted soon and to hang fire...rang SIA explained also rang Job center and informed them KP Skills seemed to be giving me run about.. they rang KP told funding had been with drawn but my cheque would be honoured... hum letter then from SIA licence to be revoked in 21 days if nothing forwarded... rang KP and Job center... got given assurances would all be sorted in 21 days not to worry..long shot.. licence has been revoked and i now have to appeal through magistrates or sheriff court... none of this is my fault and i am sooo angry right now but please how do i take this further eg get y licence back.. job center have said they will foot bill but i am not sure how to proceed? help please

I can't see why the SIA would process your licence application unless they had been paid. So that is very strange. It sounds like they processed your application when they received the cheque and then the cheque bounced. Sounds like they are effectively blaming you for the cheque bouncing. Can't the Jobcentre sort it out as they are going to be the ones paying.

However I have to say that its surprising that the Jobcentre is still funding licences when jobs are in such short supply. If you did manage to get a job its only resulting in someone else ending up on benefits.

ty for reply.. ok the job center went through a company called KP Skills (3rd party) they offered couses to the unemployed and at the time paid for the licence fee as part of the course taken.. when i took the course and passed.. KP Skill were the ones that were supposed to foot the fees for the licence £220.00 if memory serves me.. now they apparently had funding issues and stopped/canceled cheques that had been sent for these payments..I had to send my application back as there was a discrepancy over a date but on return it all was cleared and i had the full licence sent to me.. i am assuming the SIA thourght the cheque was good so banked it... then it bounce and i had a letter asking for payment for the issued licence... This is where i rang KP Skill and got basically told a lot of BS.. funding is being sorted, cheque in post etc... then i rang the Job center and got them involved as i was getting no where... they to got pushed from pillar to post.. All the time i kept the SIA up to date with what was happening.. up shot is that my licence was revoked.. I have rang SIA but they say IF i want to arhue it i have to go through a court now.. they wont deal with it at all...The job center even agree to foot the bill themselves but again the SIA said because the licence has been revoked i HAVE to take it to court. I didnt get a job however saying that at the time no jobs were advertised in the security i wanted so i took a pt job.. 4 jobs have come up in the last 2 months .. I rang and explained the situation but no employer would even entertain giving me a interview with the situation as it stood.. wihich i can understand. I just feel so let down so angry that i had a greater chance of the job i wanted with the licence all in place and now i am back to stage one...

Is it costing you to go to court? If so will the Jobcentre pay for that too?

I think you have to remember that most people have had to pay for their own course and licence. I realise that you're frustrated the way things have turned out, but there are a number of companies set-up just to churn people out with funding coming from the tax payer. Most of those people can't find work along with the ones who paid for their licence due to the market being saturated.

If you have your heart set on working in the Security Industry then my advice would be to take ANY job, no matter how much it sucks, and earn the money to pay for your own licencse. After all, something earned has more meaning than something given.
Theres plenty of temp jobs, warehouse work, fast food places. Two weeks graft should get you the money for a license.

If the sia revoked your license after sending you the request for payment....... why didnt you take it straight to the job centre.... also, if sia are taking you to court then it should be magistrates court....... now they could say they revoked your license because of the bounced check from the training provider......... which is fraud......because the training provider knew the cheque was going to bounce....... they then gave you an opportunity to pay the 245 quid for the license...... you didnt so they are legally entitled to revoke your license.
Basically....you can wait for the court date and put your case..... and get in writing that the job centre offered to pay the 245 quid and produce it at court......... if however they say that you will have to pay for the court case....then you have 2 choices...1 you can sue the training provider..... or 2 re-take the course with another provider.....save up the money and pay for the license yourself...... if the sia take you to court and you lose....you could end up with a criminal conviction and wont get a license anyway....

IF you read what i wrote....NO the SIA isnt taking ME to court...they say that if i want to argue to revoke then I have to take it to a magistrates court... It's not my fault the cheque bounced i was lead to beleive the course i took was paying the licence fee, i feel cheated that a course set up to help the un employed get into work by giving them the skills and paying the licence fee has not been forth coming... i took a pt job untill a suitable job oportunty came up. which by the way 4 have come up that i can not now even get a interview for..and i and a single mum with 2 children so NO a 2 week graft wouldnt pay the fee as i have other bills to fork out for which is why i took the pt job.to pay bills till i could secure a security full time one. 220 may not seem a great deal to you guys but to me it meant the differance to a good job and a crap job... i will get the licence back wether it takes me 1 year or more i just feel totally shit on by this company that give you the hope of something better then do not follow through... i came to this site i the hope that someone could tell me how to go about taking this through a court.. but i am going to go through CAB at least i may get some proper answers from them.. to be honest you guys havent been any help or even bothered to read my post properly.
