I would appreciate any help on the above subject.I am looking at attending an EMT basic course and its come down to the 2 courses mentioned above.Has anyone done these courses.Theres been a good write up about the SOS EMT course but nothing on the PPA International.Any help would be much appreciated.

I did the PPA International course and thought it was very good, instructors very knowledgable and it stood me in good stead. Dont know about SOS.

I am currently into the last week of the SOS course and I can honestly say that it is the best money I have ever spent. There is the online portion before you get here, and then the theory once here. What sets it aside in my opinion is the actual patient contact time that is above and beyond what you will find in any European training course. Where else will you attend gunshot wounds, cardiac and respiratory difficulty all within an hour? Whilst on a training course?

Haven't done either the SOS or PPA EMT course, but last year I did spend a few weeks as an HPC registered paramedic (UK) in Guatemala with SOS for the trauma experience and can honestly say that it was excellent, well worth the time, effort, and money; so I would say go with SOS if you can, as I can't imagine the professionalism of them and experience that can be had can be bettered.

A write up of my time is forthcoming (apologies for the long delay but a serious car wreck has had me out of action for a few months).

Just for reference, my post ( #6 above) was removed for 'advertising'. I would like to clarify that I was not touting for work as my company does not provide EMT-B courses; I had instructed Smokey72 to email me at the company email address which infringes advertising rules, as does using a company name as username, hence I have also changed my username.

Smokey72, if you could email me at my personal email address adam (at) adam-gent (dot) com as I still cannot PM you. I don't want to sell you a course I would like to give you my opinion of the EMT-B course I attended.
