TA RMP or the RAF Reserves Police? Which should i join?

I'm sure the RAF will say the same about the RMP but that's hardly likely to help the original poster.

Stemondo, what is it you want out of joining the Reserves? It would be easier to advise you dependent on what it it you're looking for.

For what it's worth, I did 14 years RAFPolice. Basic training then follow-on training as dog handler, after which I served mainly as dog handler but did a couple of tours on Station Police. Whenever the RAFAux joined us, it was mainly in UK and always on camp.

As for RedCap/Snowdrop divide, well when the job needed doing both Services got on with the job and got the results. The colour of the uniform and the Service rules may differ but when it comes to the nitty gritty we all serve the same Boss - HM.

Steve,

My advice is join the CNC and settle in get a year under your belt and revisit the Reservist thing. I think it could distract you, or be viewed by your future CNC supervisors in a poor light. This should not happen, I know, but it could, people being people and having opinions. I did 30 years Police service and 30 years RMPTA (22 years SIB) so I'm not an armchair critic.

I loved my TA bit and was, by the way, well qualified to investigate the murders of British soldiers and also journalists, by Iraqis.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do but your day career is the most important.

Regards........Nippy

probably zero chance of joining ta/raf reserve if you join the cnc

well to answer from my 8 years service,we've a very low percentage of our force thats allowed to serve as reservist/TA and to say that the waiting list to be allowed is already long would be an understatement.hope that answered your moronic post.

Moronic? read your own post and answer this, what did it answer? What value did it bring to the discussion when you explain nothing, qualified nothing? NOW that you explain yourself your post has some meaning and worth, your first post really was pretty pointless! I'll not lower myself to exchanging insults you can have that all yourself matey!

All it would of took would of been a why rather than pulling my post apart or doubting my experience on the subject, which is why I still regard your post as moronic

Well if my post offended you I most humbly apologise I'm not going to get into an argument with you, you explained "why" and that was all it took subject closed!

SB, the chances of you being allowed to join the TA whilst serving with the CNC are low. The reason is most Chief Constables allow only 2% of their total Force strength to join the TA (for obvious reasons). As such, competition is quite fierce and there is usually a queue which you will be at the back of. My advice is concentrate on the role that is going to keep the roof over your head and the bills paid.
