Its the US, I wouldn't like to comment either way :)

Especially with other stories such as 'Secret Service Agent Says Obama Is Muslim & Gay In New Tell-All Book'

Won't stop some applying never the less.

The one about Kim whatsherface starting a new church was hilarious. However, one day the other week I compared the UK news to The Daily Mash news and it seemed the Daily Mash was more sensible. It was the day Dave and the alleged pig was in the news but that wasn't the only mad story.

(Just when I was expecting a comment from SCT!, I lost my own bet!) :)
 
SCT and I along with a few others on here could easily write reasonable length books entitled "You can't make this stuff up!" about living here as Ex-Pat Brits. Many of us have had a version of "My wife's cousin married a Brit and now lives in a small town called Liverpool, perhaps you've met them... It's where the Beetles come from." Another is "Why do you guys drive on the wrong side of the road?" My rely to that one varies from "We're mainly right handed..." to "We do it to piss off the French..." or "What hand do you carry a sword in?" Am yet to get a follow up question for that.
As I am in a rambling mood... I came across some old emails from a few years ago from an old Gun Club mate in Bournemouth. He was thinking of having a holiday in the US, and Georgia in particular. I suggested they fly into Atlanta and I would pick them up and I would lend them a car, a semi-auto 12 ga; a 30 aught 6, and a S&W Model 52. Brilliant! 3 days later, he called and asked if he should offer my wife some money for food???? For one night, I asked? "No we'll be staying at your house for the two weeks, won't we?" I explained that we were at least 3 hours from the Florida border, and they could stay on the first night then hire a car to drop off in Atlanta airport. Dropping off the guns on the way through. "But I thought you were my friend, you have just ruined our holiday." Then hung up. Not spoken to me since.

I've had this same experience, not with SCT :) but another Brit. Felt a little taken advantage of but I chalked it up to experience for the next Brit who might want to come to the states and pop in for a "visit".

Forgot to mention, not had a Christmas card from him since! Might send his wife one this year...
