This is not a marketing 'plug' post....

It's actually a notification of a new camcorder that is a "Grand Child" of the original "MIDNITEYES-66" Camcorder I made in 1990/1 that was then copied in Japan, and every other camcorder maker made various versions of, and still do. Pleased to say, none of them copied the bit I started with back then, and I still do to this day; low light enhanced video that stays in colour even when the POV is 'painted' with any level or frequency of Infra Red illumination. I was not going to talk about any of this until we were back living in the UK. Christmas is a good time to 'look around' one's life and consider what to think about in the coming year. For instance, Christmas Day there was not a cloud in the sky and the temperature outside was one of the, to me, magic temperature days; it was 28c or back to front 82f. I checked on line and could not find anywhere in the British Isles any where close to that. I am too old to listen to "BS" any more, or advice; "Why don't you do this, or that" often because I did it 25 years ago and it doesn't work; or I did it, couldn't fund it and it got copied. Surveillance has been around for hundreds of years, and it can be thought of, as variations of "seeing without being seen" but now with it needs to be recorded to be believed. End of boring 'ramble' along Memory Lane.
Cutting to the 'Chase' I have given into pressure on several fronts and I am now working on a small '2016' updated and digital "MIDNITEYES-66" Camcorder. I wanted to call it; BIIC ("But it's in colour") a phrase used by an RM friend of a friend when he saw some footage taken in low light of some other RM people on an exercise. That was 1991.

David this isn't a marketing post either but while we're on the subject I'm thinking of making thongs for ladies, obviously I'd need to measure them up first just to make sure they're a good fit ;) (Dragons den for me)

Interesting; I am in occasional email contact with one of the UK Dragons. He was amazed when I didn't agree with an offer from him. They're just not used to people saying, "...er, no." His idea was good, but not what I wanted to do. Still needs to be done, maybe if and when we move back to "Welsh Wales"... maybe.
I really must stop posting here. There we are then! My "New Years Resolution" nice one. That reminds me; December 31st., need to keep the two cats in, as who knows what will be shooting into the air that night. Until fairly recently, fireworks were on 'controlled' sale, so shotguns, pistols and rifles were fired into the night sky instead. Now they are on sale in stores, but they were just added to everything else discharged into the night sky! "Stiff Fingering" semi-auto shotguns, rifles and handguns is the norm. There's a clamp on rotating trigger actuator for shotguns and rifles. The one for pistols is hard to control. The laws of gravity are suspended that night, or so some seem to think.

Just got a notification of your reply, thank god it wasn't you wanting a thong lol. You wrote a very well worded post to someone who wanted to get into PI, situational awareness, you gave that young fella good advice.

Brian

PS... If I had a pound for everytime you said you were leaving here I'd be on Dragons Den myself. You're part of the furniture, you're doomed to always and forever be here mate.

I feel that helping someone younger, is what we should be doing. I have been around a long time, and eventually realized that tell idiots that they were idiots often pissed them off, so sometimes I ignore them, but am happy to help those who are prepared to listen. Humour me, maybe some of the stuff about me maybe true...

You're part of the furniture buddy and your wisdom has helped loads of people, including myself.

Oh Boy! Put the bottle back in the pantry... I came to this strange web site to put some people straight regarding the BS they were posting about their unique (expensive) Chinese video kit. A friend knew what was being stated as 'Fact' was different to what I had told him over the years, so I was asked to 'discuss it' with them on line. They left and didn't come back. I should have left a week after them.
My "Wisdom" is mainly common sense from not getting answers to questions when I was an apprentice electrician. I would then ask myself; "Why do they do that, that way? as 'this way' is better/simpler/quicker/easier etc. By around age late 16 years old, no one wanted me working or learning with them. It was the same with shooting handguns. "Don't try that, that doesn't work..." OK. Two months after that I was writing two monthly articles for Guns Review Magazine. One was technical on reloading, and the other for an Association, plus writing to Chief Officers explaining what Section 27 of the 1946 Act meant. Only stopped when we came here in 1989.
I have tried to get people to think for themselves and to question everything. I ask people never to tell me what they did that didn't work. Just tell me what is the desired end result, as I will waste my time trying to make someone's idea work.
But enough of all of that. I need to write a 'spec and a quote for a new MIDNITEYES camcorder for an Agency the origins of which I have yet to see!

DS,

I will again say, please stick around... And I still know a guy that would relish the chance to show your kit to a couple uk agencies once you get the kit ready for market or even at demo readiness which it most likely is.

I don't make any money until I have units to demo, that either generate sales, or someone buys the prototypes. Don't like selling the prototypes as they can show my thought patterns if the person with it can workout what I did. I should be retired now, but the US Medical crooks have close to bled my dry. If anyone tells you the US has a good medical service, try not to choke when laughing out loud.

I am gratified and surprised at that public comment and a couple of others in PM's and email! There is a new version of the original MI-66 in development that I expect will get copied in Japan/China once it is "Out there." Knowing that produces mixed feelings; both good and; "effing a-holes can't invent or think for there effing selves, only good at copying others!" Like the original MIDNITEYES-66, every Traffic Cop, Investigator, and pervert, will want one version or the other. Also like the "66" no one wants to put any money up until it's in production, or people are already buying it. END OF WINGE! (For now) The site would not let me post this as it says it is not long enough!

Paranoid a wee bit mate? Get it out there.

When I made the first and the original MIDNITEYES-66 no camcorder or other video camera maker made anything like it; not anywhere. It was just me. on my own making (modifying) an existing camera or camcorder. Most if not all colour video cameras could not 'handle' or work with IR illumination. In The UK in 1988, I had modified several camcorders to work in low light and maintain pastel shades of 'soft' colour. Then in 1989 came to Georgia to put a video security system onto a new Gulf Stream jet for the owner of Harrods. Long delays, nothing to do, so started phoning people I knew over here. One took me to the headquarters of the CIA in Langley Virginia. When they came to us we were told, "Show them nothing new!" so we showed them the disposable kit. Now I was being shown their current and prototype kit. I ask; "Are you taking the piss?" and "OK, where's the real shit?" But we were then looking at their operational 'on the ground' kit' I was asked what the device was in my brief case as it had been 'pinged' on the way in. I usually have one with me when I will stay in a hotel, or some other strange place. I call it an acelerometer and with headphones I can listen through most walls, including brick. I gave it to them. They then asked about the modified camcorder. I showed it, and left without it... Two weeks later I got a call from USAF OSI wanting one of my camcorders for evaluation. A week later I got a US Government check for $6,150.00 That then became the new price for US Government Agencies. Before I was getting $2,999.00!
Sadly, I didn't appreciate the market size, and pottered away making two or three a week with a smile on my face. 5 years latter at a retiring party, and Sony had come out with the Niteshot long before (or whatever they call it) I was told that they had 'looked at me' for an opinion on how stable was my company, and were concerned that I couldn't make as many as they needed, and gave two of my camcorders to a well known Japanese company to make a few hundred of them. It is still in production nearly 20 years later. However, they go to 'Grey Scale' while mine are in colour. In the UK and the USA, I filed for patent protection, but didn't enclose. A old trick to get the Patent Office to reply on headed note paper what I wanted filing, and the date. This establishes a so called "Prior Art" date by their reply. No legal validity other than the Patent Office say that on that date, you/we were talking about a new product or idea.
Enough of this. Ollie North signed his then current book for the poster here who got me started wasting many hours of my life writing crap here! Hope this is my last...
DS
PS: my video cameras, and new camcorder rebuild does all and more of what the originals did, plus (I had forgotten) I have it video recording through any and all "Black Glass" office windows, limo windows and up market SUV's. Now I'm done
