News discussion about man tasered by police outside Buckingham Palace - This Morning - 4th Feb 2013 - YouTube
This is an interesting insight not only into the police firearms tactics used in this country but also the insane mental mind set of the female presenter (stupid bitch) Top marks to Philip Schofield.

Don't know the lady but she is a good example of the typical "protect me, protect my home, protect my family, protect my country but please, please, don't even think of showing me how you do it" attitude. Far too common in far too many places, they just think everything can be solved using counsellors and self-help books.

?
I believe Ronald Reagan, who was surrounded by armed secret service AND police, was shot within about 7 seconds of emerging from the building. There are about 5-6 police officers and 6-8 secret service officers, all armed, one even with an Uzi, but not a shot fired by any of them.
All those firearms didn't stop Reagan or James Brady from getting shot, no matter how much they got waved around afterwards.
Proper reconnaissance, advancing a venue, and good police work would have prevented what all those Armed Police officers and Armed Secret Service CPOs could not.
Now there's a good analogy.

I think you've misquoted me. I believe I said that 99% of gunfights LAST less than ten seconds.

That's a poor example to make your point. The Secret Service that protect the president are supposed to be the best of the best from that agency. Even though they were armed to the teeth they used good judgement in NOT firing back at John Hinckley in a crowd of innocent people. No gun control law was going to stop him. Reagan's attacker got close enough to knife the president. He was hell bent on killing the president one way or the other. Not every citizen has the secret service with them 24/7. Oh, and the whole thing was over in less than 10 seconds...gunfight or not.

Did you brush up on the Randy Weaver/Ruby Ridge murders by the FBI? It's a scary read if you're into that sort of thing.

stay tuned ... we have drama in Los Angeles. The shots fired at 5:30 am on Thursday morning were part of a manhunt by the LAPD for a rogue officer who is on the run. Here is the initial report ...

Christopher Dorner Manhunt: Former LAPD Officer Attempted to Flee Country Before Allegedly Shooting Cops - Yahoo!

That explains why we have six police choppers orbiting the sky. In fairness to the LAPD - the suspect did kill a police officer overnight.

The problem is this ... the two dozen shots fired at 5:30 am this morning came from police guns - not gangsters. And it was a case of mistaken identity. The cops shot up a woman who was delivering newspapers early in the morning. Her blue pickup was the same color and make as the rogue suspect's vehicle. Local rumor is that she is in the hospital - condition unknown.

Christopher Dorner was terminated from the LAPD. He's a war veteran that worked at that agency and he blew the whistle on alleged police brutality. The internal affairs investigation upheld that Dorner was lying. Dorner killed the family members of a police captain involved in the investigation. Dorner had a 20 page manifesto which stated in part that the captain kept him from having a family so he was going to take the captain's family from him. Dorner is on the run and is armed with the knowledge taught him by the US military and the LAPD. It's going to turn out ugly. Dorner has vowed to kill police and anyone else who tries to catch him.

Here is an update ...

Massive manhunt on for ex-cop accused of killing 3 - Yahoo! News

Police did fire shots into the wrong vehicle on Thursday morning. That incident was less than a mile from my home. They probably fired about 20 shots - it's a miracle the woman in the pickup was not killed.

Dorner is a puzzle. It appears his killings of police officers were targeted, and not just random. Therefore, it seems unlikely that he really poses a threat to the general public. He did kill family members of one officer, though. What's strange is that he took revenge against the man who actually defended him in a tribunal. This raises questions about Dorner's psychological stability.

So ... he's violent and vindictive at this stage. He appears to be determined to go out in a "blaze of glory". What's unclear is whether he does have actual evidence of corruption within the LAPD - or whether that's all in his head. Maybe this is just another example of a person "falling off the edge" ... only this time the person was a uniformed officer.

Dorner probably cant stay free for long ... with so many police officers looking for him. And frankly, from what we saw on Thursday morning ... nobody on the police force seems interested in taking Dorner alive.

Following the discussion of Dorner and the manhunt in L.A. ...

Dorner is reported to have served in a US Navy unit assigned to undersea warfare. It's not clear if this was the SEALS or another unit. He is a marksman and is trained in demolitions. He has threatened to use "assymmetrical warfare" against the LAPD. A burned out truck belonging to Dorner was found 80 miles east of L.A. on Thurs afternoon (Big Bear area).

Dorner reported that his training officer in the police (a woman officer) used brutality against a man with schizophrenia and dementia (arrested by the LAPD). The woman denied excessive use-of-force. A parent of the man who was arrested said he was kicked hard - twice in the chest. A subsequent police inquiry accused Dorner of lying and dropped the charges. Dorner took this as an assault on his personal honor. Dorner's psychological profile is unknown at this time.

This appears to be a real-life version of the old movie "Rambo". But I'm sure the LAPD has a very different view of Dorner.

His 'manifesto': Full Christopher Dorner manifesto

Theres going to be quite a few worried LAPD officers out there going by his statements.

This doesnt shock me this has happened, we all live with the frustrations of other people dishonour, its an everyday accurence for everyone, sadly.it seems to be the scociety we live in today. I find alot of people will lie and blame others for thier feck ups. I kinda feel for him, perhaps he was the stand up guy he says he was, but hes now lost the plot.

I guess he needs to be caught quick coz he sounds pissed and capable, I hope for many loved ones hes is stopped and also for his sake hes stopped, hes gone too far but im not going to throw stones, this type of thing has always had the potential of happening, and it stood the highest chance of happening in the US.

I know what I mean by that and so will others, I stand fast for incoming from US members, as I imagin your going to take my comments too litrally, I have said in reference to all which has been said so far on this thread.

We just dont get each other, that doesnt mean we wouldnt fight side by side tho against a foe.

I wish all well in the US and hope this doesnt continue with more loss of life.

Cheers, bren

I'll take time to read it.

I got the story on what happened in our local neighborhood. When Dorner started attacking police (and their families), the cops immediately put protection on people who used to work with him. One of those people happened to live less than a mile from my house. So there was a police protection detail guarding the house. Around 5:30 am a truck drove slowly down the road. The make and color of the truck was a close match to Dorner's vehicle. The truck stopped outside the house. The guys on the protection detail were nervous and opened fire. In fact, the person who got out of the truck was a woman who was delivering newspapers. She was shot in the back by the protection detail. She had a female companion, also in the truck. That person was shot in the hand. About 20 shots were fired.

I can understand that the protection detail were nervous - given that Dorner was on the loose and had already killed. Still, this doesn't speak too highly of their attempt to identy their target. They are very lucky that the two women lived.

I agree that Dorner committed murder - no justification for killing innocent civilians. He might have had more sympathy from local L.A. residents if he had avoided doing that. As it is - I dont think anyone is going to care too much if he's gone. His manifesto will just become a piece of evidence.

Bren ... I don't see anything offensive in your remarks at all. In some ways I am surprised this has not happened before in the USA. It's now on our doorstep. People here are not really panicking - because they see that Dorner is specifically targeting the police. I imagine there are quite a few policemen who are very worried about their family members. I would not be surprised in the LAPD issues a secret request to military authorities to assist in finding and killing Dorner. The US special forces would probably respond ... because they don't want this to go any further. The most likely outcome is that Dorner is cornered and killed. But it's possible that one or two more policemen could die before that happens, and also that civilians might be killed while Dorner is procuring food & supplies.

It's happened many times before. Where do you think the term "Going Postal" came from? It is the result of the rash of murders from employees of the postal service from the 80s. If you're talking specifically about law enforcement officers going postal...I know it's happened before. The cop shop is a pressure cooker and some just can't handle it. Stress from within is 10 times worse than on the street. Add marriage problems, alcohol and financial stress and you have the makings of a big problem.

Dorner's truck was found gutted by fire in the northern part of the US and it is assumed he has taken to the forest. Rambo-esque indeed!! This is not going to end well. I just hope the damage is minimal but there will be more loss of life I fear.

This was exactly my point earlier, everyones got a breaking point a top psychologist said after the derek bird incident. No amount of background checks can forsee this happening when people purchase or own firearms.

A psychopathic killer lose in the woods?!? Thank god he doesn't have access to firearms...................D'oh!

Surely a top psychologist did not just leave it at that only. Did this person happen to mention GAF scores and how they fluctuate, methods of control and suppression as well?

Or was this Adrian West, if that is the case then I could not see any volume in this when the professional witness was there for one specific case, one that would have had more justification in consulting with a psychiatrist and not a psychologist.

Any opportunity to take a jab eh? It's okay because I'm not the one ignorant enough to believe that a silly little gun law would stop someone from committing the ultimate crime......murder. Did your law prevent the murder of the two female PCs last year? Uhhh, nope! Doh! Glass houses my friend.

No 'Silly gun laws' don't stop murders but they make it a bloody sight harder to commit them!
The killing of two colleagues from my 'Old Force', last year was indeed a terrible tragedy. But anyone who knew the circumstances will tell you that even if they had been carrying firearms it wouldn't have saved them. A mercifully rare tragedy in this country.
They believed that they were attending a report of a routine burglary, they were wearing body armour and they were ambushed by a prick who used a hand grenade and an SLP. Don't tell me that your cops would have gone to see a burglary complainant with their weapons drawn and a SWAT team at their back.
Glass house? I think not. Where's the comparison?

Sorry to hear about your mates.

When did this happen?
