Weapon state?

Oh God.
Charlie as per SOP's mate, as mentioned previously they do differ between companys, as Tommy said if its your own choice then choose a state and stick with it, muscle memory is a powerful tool!

Cocked, flicked to auto, safety off, finger lightly on trigger, alert position - find them gooks.

"Gook" is considered a disparaging moniker for the enemy in asian theatres of operations...
Started in the Korean war and continued into Vietnam where the term was popularised.
From my understanding, "gook" is part of a Korean word/term that means "people". Like "Han-gook" might mean Korean people, "nan-gook" might mean Western people. Not sure how it became derogatory in use.
If anything it's just bad grammar since "gook" (being plural without an "s") is used in the singular, and "gooks", well thats just alots

The thing is - is that my post was obviously one of a little humour and so whilst we thank ye for pointing out the specifics of the historical use of the term 'gook', it does not matter in the least concerning the context it was stated!

If we all conduct security with the outlook that there are gooks in the wire or there is potential to have gooks in the wire then we must do all we can to prevent these gooks from penetrating our defences. :D

Point taken and whole heartedly agreed.

My little spiel about the word wasn't a jab at your post... it was to give Gorilla a useless piece of trivia on a word he wasn't familiar with...

And to indicate were he to use the term in certain "social" circles it might cause him some static.

I never give a mate a weapon without showing him how to make it safe.
:)

While my English is heluva good for a foreigner (Army trained) sometimes the slang can be quite confuzing..Especially the G.I slang...

Normally most of the time what i do is paste and copy the fraze idiom on internet and find out easy enough how to use it...But in order to be on the safe side i always ask a native speaker ...

Thanks both of you for explanation...

By the way...if you hear of any openings ..does not matter where...

I am on...

As long as the salary is half decent...

I officially put myself in the que..

Gorilla out!
