What's Do You Carry Your Med Kit In?

It dont matter what you carry the kit in, its knowing where everything is in a hurry and in the dark especially when the shit hits the fan. Ther medic should know his kit inside out and back to frunt in the same way everyone knows their weapon inside out and back to front.

the medic may often have to ask others to pas a specific peice of kit, you should know your kit so well that you can describe where in the bag it is and what it looks like so someone can get it.

A Few Tips here:
1. medical bags are a personal choice
2. Plan your kit layout sensibly
3. Do not change a bag and then expect to be efficient when the shit hits, it takes time to familiarise with a new kit layout.
4. Get used to accessing the kit for different items in a hurry.
5. Avoid swapping and changing bags with other medics
6. Where there are several medics, sharing several bags, get the same bags and ensure a universal layout is used for the bag
7. Remember when re-stocking, always place the new stock under the old stock to ensure rotation and usage of kit.
8. ensure your bags can easilly be cleaned as once you have a messy job, your bag will be bogging and contaminate all the sterile kit.

Well, being a medic I tend to carry a few more bits than most. If I am with a team, I will put together a leg bag with a self applying constrcting band, each memeber should no less than three of them; a couple of traingle bandanges and some gauze.

As for my kit; I will carry two of everything from chest seals to more constricting bands, a suture kit, a tube of super glue (yes, super glue) a complete airway kit and a bone drill with extra bone needles. I will only carry two bags of Iv fluid.

As for the Quick Clot - excellent stuff; never use it in a chest or abdominal wound!

I will also have a Sat Phone in case the teams phone goes belly up - a lesson learned in Iraq.

May sound a bit over the top but then again, I am a medic. Does anyone know anyone who may be hiring medics?

supa glue is good studd when its messy, but ensure you have the water resistant or you will find it just peals off in minutes.

would be careful in carrying too much surplus kit, remember if you receive so much shit that your all compromised, then by the time you get round to dealing with anyone, they have probably expired anyway. so concerntrate on what could be required and be ruthless and practical.
